Travel insurance - small print

As my flight was cancelled on saturday to pick up a new car, I thought I would claim my expenses from my travel insurance (to/from airport etc).

All well until we got to the small print part of the definition of "travel". My "Gold Annual Insurance" does not cover travel delay / cancellations unless you have booked to be away a night. As I was planning to fly and drive back, there was no night involved so no cover. If I had stayed over a night before driving back, I would have been covered.

Don't you just love small print ...

Yeah tell me about it.

I was meant to fly out to last sat from Heathrow.. which was cancelled.. i have finally got a flight for tomorrow...

If i return on prebooked scheduled fligh back i have lost out 4 days of my holiday....

The travel insurance will cover my 4 days i have lost (in terms of compasate the accomodation that i have paid for)... however the refuse to cover a new return flight 4 days later and 4 extra days accomodation... apparently its not in my t&c for them to offer such a gesture :headbang:

During the Icelandic Volcano Sago I couldn't get home from Barcelona. A two night city break turned in to a week and a half away. Noone paid out a penny. Cost us a small fortune finding extra hotels, food etc.

I'm surprised you bothered :o I know I wouldn't have for such a small amount.

It would have been £30 for a 5 minute phone call, worth it to me.
