Transporting 2 mountain bikes with Z4? Here's one way...

So many times people say "there is not much lugage space in your car, huh?". Well, it can fit 2 mountain bikes with "ease" :). Here's how...

All this stuff should go in there?

One bike in the trunk.

Three tires and other stuff there as well.

Then use the BMW Ski Rack to carry the other bike plus one tire. And only the backbag came to the passenger compartment :)

So maybe not the most practical way of transporting stuff, but owning a Z car doesn't mean you have to limit your hobbies. And owning that big SUV/Station Wagon means you cannot enjoy the twistie roads without a roof or even having fun at the Nordschleife. So how much more versatile can a car get ;)

thats great :D

I can get my bike in the boot - but not two:

it looks as if a cyclist has just crashed into the back of the car, with the bike rested on top like that..Not the most aesthetically pleasing method, however i am amazed they fit !

:D

Didn't think that'd be possible but well done! Sod dismantling the bikes as far as that for every trip though, particularly taking the forks off especially if you had hydraulic disc brakes.

Alternative is just to buy a van as well as your Z4 :P

Agreed I wouldn't really do this every weekend, but once per year it's "ok" and it does certainly look a bit goofy. (Fork with Disc brakes are easy, you just detach the lever from the handlebar and tie that to the fork for transportation ;)

Unless you've got Shimano brakes where the lever clamp doesn't split in 2 and involves removing the grip to slide the brake lever off . I used to have only one pair of forks between 2 bikes and it was a complete pain to move the forks between them (lock-on grips were essential!).
