Transmission warning light.

Hi everyone new owner here.
Recently bought my first Z4 as a summer toy.It is a 2003 2.5 auto and so far love it to bits.
It does however have a fault. It has happened maybe 4/5 times in the last month and only happens first thing in the morning.I turn on the ignition and all the warning lights come on then go out as expected but on these few occasions the transmission light stays on.If i start the engine then just move the gear lever through the gears turn the car off again then start it up again all is ok again. So it appears the car knows/thinks there is a fault before i have even started it.I am sort of suspecting low gearbox oil and am planning to have a filter/oil change done but wondered if any of you may have other ideas.
Thanks in advance.
Sean

I guess it could be low transmission oil or the sensor is just playing up. The fact its intermittent I would think its just a sensor playing up. Do you have anyone in your area than can read BMW fault codes? It might have left a code on the computer.
