Transmission telltale light intermittent on

Hi Guys,

I have an issue where by the transmission telltale light comes on randomly (usually when the car has been left overnight). When I restart the engine it disappears. I haven't noticed any issues with driving the car, however my problem sounds similar to this one here...

Does this look like a dodgy transmission switch?

Possibly, or the related wiring. Check the connector for dirt, corrosion, moisture, etc.

how easy is the sensor to access?

Sorry, I don't even know which switch this is referring to. It just seemed to me a connector on the transmission is more susceptible to moisture damage then the switch itself. However, I believe most of the wiring goes into the hydraulic unit at the rear of the trans, which shouldn't be too hard to access once you're under the car, but I haven't physically seen an auto trans, so I may be wrong. All the other controls and relays are in the electrics box under the bonnet behind the left strut tower so should be fairly safe from moisture.
