Hi all! I have an 04 z4 3.0i and I have dealership display ramps inside my garage that I park the car on in order to have access to the underside of the car. The other day I had changed the oil and let It drain into a bucket about 2.5 feet beneath it. Apparently some of the oil dribbled and puddled on the shield for the oil pan. I didn’t realize it until I took the car down off the ramps and there was a trail of oil outside my garage into the alley. I realized it was old dirty oil and not new oil so I cleaned it up and turned the car around and reversed it back up onto the ramps. I left it parked there for two days and when I brought it out of the garage there was two separate puddles between the ramps. The smaller one was old motor oil and to my surprise there was a big puddle of what had to have been tranny fluid. I put the car back into the garage and haven’t driven it since.
The ramps I have are 11 feet long and put the car 3 feet off the ground so it’s a pretty steep incline. Is it possible for transmission fluid to escape some place that I should check in particular? I know the fill hole is sorta difficult to reach. A shop had been responsible for my transmission going out about 2 yrs ago and they had to replace it. So I’m wondering if maybe they left something loose in spite because they had to pay for my replacement transmission. Awhile back I had noticed a hose by the transmission was wet with oil but I think it was just oil blown back from the oil pan gasket as it’s got a leak.
