Does a trailer need an MOT?

My mate is going to sell me this instead of on ebay (he doesn't know)

How much you think I should pay for this? It is for transporting a Pug 205

Nope, but it has to be fit for purpose, legal tyres, functioning lights, etc.

I've towed Jeeps on trailers for years and I would not touch a trailer like the one you link to. A potential deathtrap as are those cobbled together on old caravan chassis. A brief look at it appears to be just a few bits of box tube welded to some 1x1 square section. It appears to have no brakes nor any suspension and with the latter would be limited to really low weight.

If you intend to tow get a proper trailer from Brian James or Ifor Williams, second hand is of course way cheaper. If not then hire one as and when needed.

Sorry but I've seen too many of these on the side of the motorway facing the wrong way

Are those trailer Dolley's any good? They don't look very safe compared to a full trailer.

I'm sure they are OK. Recovery companies used them a lot in the past but you don't see them so much these days. Big downside is of course 2 wheels reamin on the road so damaged cars are more difficult to move and certain transmissions cannot be flat towed.

Best is of course to get the towed vehicle off the ground and fully on a trailer
