Traffic info with the NAV system??

The dealer recently replaced my NAV computer in the car and I got the newest DVD disc with it. There's a traffic option that now appears, where I don't believe it was there before. How do you use this option? I turned the TMC option on and nothing changed on the screen even though I was stuck in standstill rush hour traffic? Is there an additional fee involved for the TMC feature?

I LOVE the birds-eye view!!

Sorry for the newbie question....

nope... if the TMC icon is green you're receiving the info and it's all free, provided thru the radio... if it's red its not receiving info, most likely because you're listening to the radion - flick to a CD and it will work.

it will only warn you if there's traffic on the route you've planned, but you can still view the info through the menus - "Traffic Info"

have fun, mine is a life saver !

Any way the software runs in existing NAV computers or does this require a newer rev of the hardware?

I was listening to a mp3 CD and the "TMC" was in RED so I'd assume that I need different (newer) hardware to get this feature to work since I have an '05.

Nope if TMC is showing red it's correctly set up and working, just not receiving a TMC signal

You may need to go into 'Traffic information' and select 'RDS/TMC' (from somewhere in that menu you can also 'check' boxes to select from the range of warnings and alerts you want to see - road closures, weather, etc.)

Keep off the radio once set (unless you want to listen to whatever TMC channel it happens to choose) else it retunes the radio and drops off the TMC channel
