Trade in G29 for a 911?

Just noticed that my Z4 is up for sell at BMW Sheffield where it always went to for services. This is the link to the car. If anyone here bought it, feel free to get in touch.

Out of curiosity just asked for a cost to change. Had to tell them 3 times now they have the wrong email address to send me the quote but keep getting txts saying they have tried and quotes keep bouncing back.

Perhaps someone is trying to tell me something?

Are you thinking px yours with this specific one with Sytner Sheffield? Or, are you talking about another dealer?

[/quote]Looking to part ex but not in any hurry. Nearly did a deal on a new San Remo green M40i but just not quite affordable. My wife will let me exchange as long as it has Cognac interior but have a very nice machine so in no hurry whatsoever.

They offered me a cost to change of £12K so I told them very politely where to go. May wait to see what Ms Reeves has for us in the budget or even wait till the Spring. As I say, in no hurry.

I think their price is a bit on the high side if I'm honest. I doubt it can be sold at this price.

On the other hand, if you let me know your potential intension to move up to m40i with Cognac interior earlier in this thread before my part exchange, I can sell it to you at close to trade-in price. I don't lose anything compared to px but there going to be another happy m40i owner, plus knowing the next owner and potentially have the chance to buy it back in couple of years is actually very interesting to me. :tumbleweed: :tumbleweed:

Would always prefer to purchase a car from a forum member but part ex with a dealer is the easiest option.
If you get sick of your current wheels however and want to return into the fold let me know. I may be able to suggest a potential seller :D

I had a 1985 911 for several years and really enjoyed it. I drove it nearly every day. But I wouldn't buy a later model 911 as they feel too big - more like an M3. On winding narrow B roads smaller cars like the Cayman or a Z4 are a lot more enjoyable. A 2 seat cockpit feels a lot more immersive.

Enjoy your new Porsche. Other Porsche drivers will be very friendly - that's cos everyone else will hate you! I used to enjoy letting Prius drivers out at junctions just to see their look of disgust.

G29 z4 is actually wider than the 991 so not a problem for me. But I agree, some of the old 911 from 80s or 90s looks so much more elegant than current one (haven't driven one yet). But for my first porsche, I went down the safer route to get one from dealer with 3 year warranty. Maybe I will get an old one in the future but it's mainly for the look instead of the driving dynamic or feeling.

The biggest issue with z4 for me is that it only has 2 seats. I either took just my son for a trip, or just my wife. With 911, my son is so happy to sit in the back so that the whole family can go on a road trip in it.

That makes a lot of sense. I am sorry my previous post probably came across as fairly blunt, I hadn't realised you had already bought a 911. And I currently have an e89 so much narrower than the G29 Enjoy your new car. The TIPEC Porsche owners club are a really friendly lot. So may be worth seeing if they have any meets near you. I used to meet up with them at Castle Combe race track a lot.

Not strictly true, under 3 inches between them, having done many trips in both the G29 sits much flatter and can’t say I’ve ever noticed the difference as the G29 is a much better handling car. The G29 also has a shorter wheelbase, not by much but it’s shorter.

That's fine. Each person will have their own opinion to each car. Just like majority people here enjoy the z4 regardless which generation it is but majority of people around the world doesn't enjoy z4 or any sport car. So as long as it's a car we want and enjoy, then that's enough.

Width of three cars. Visually, G29 is similarly wide as 718 GT4 and 991.1 is the narrowest among the three.
