lasat week when the snow was here i had to turn my car round in the garage to change the oil when i got the car on the road it struggled to get back up my drive , no traction , why did nt the traction control system cut in ? rather than letting the wheels spin ? any one explain this ? do i have a problem with my t\c system
 
Traction control is not magic, it can only 'limit' wheelspin and not totally remove it. For it to totally remove it when there is zero grip, then it would simply cut all power to the wheels which would mean you don't go anywhere anyway.
 
never thought about it like that , but i would have expected the light to at least flash a little to try to control the wheel spin initially ? is there any way to test the system ?
 
Hi the light should be on when the TC is working, I find it best to turn it off when on snow and ice at least you can get you Zed moving.
It may not be in a straight line but at least you will be moving. :driving:
 
Yeah, the light should flash when TC is working. Mine has done it quite a bit recently as there's a slight camber at the end of my driveway and the main road, and its been covered with snow/ice recently which always catches it out. Does it only work when going forwards...?

Press button briefly to enable DTC (dynamic traction control) - allows more wheelspin.

Hold for about 5 secs to switch off all traction systems.

Yellow lights come on in both cases.
 
in snow the manual actually recommends you put it into TSC mode (so hit the tc button for a few secs) this will allow the wheels to spin a bit more then with TC fully on... but will still offer some safeguards if you try to do somthing silly.

Good point. Maybe I'm just a hooligan, but I've managed to spin the wheels in reverse very easily on my parents' gravel drive :roll:
