Traction control light on!

Hello

I was having a bit of fun in my 3.0 z4 and a yellow warning light came on(where the handbrake light comes on) and the traction control light is permantly on now.

Any ideas of what it is please?

You got to really worry when this light is flashing....

I get it to flash all the time when I'm driving enthusiastically,

But now it's on and won't go. It happened the other day but went off when I restarted the car.

Could it be brake pads? They sound low...

I am pretty sure that there is an indicator light for the brake pads.
The warning light for brake pad wear will look something like this.

. That's the strange thing, I've got that light on aswell. Right where the handbrake light is....

Are you playing Connect4 with your Dashboard Lights???

If you have one or more on, i would suggest a trip to Mr Dealer, i know i wouldn't risk my ///M's health

mine is doing the same, it goes off for week or so and then comes back on for a bit., took mine to dealer and they say its sensor 2, quoted about £230 to be replaced, also been told it might just be a ghost code in the ecu otherwise it would stay on.

Don't wanna speak to soon but mines gone off now! :D

It seems when it comes on if u restarted car then go for a drive 20 mins or so then restarted car it goes! Yey

Guys DSC and DTC are variations on a theme (but you will all know this but just in case).....

From the handbook:

Dynamic Stability Control DSC
DSC prevents slip at the drive wheels while
starting off and accelerating the vehicle. DSC
also recognizes unstable vehicle conditions,
such as fishtailing or nose-diving. In these
cases, and subject to physical limits, DSC helps
to keep the vehicle on a steady course by
reducing engine speed and by applying brakes
at individual wheels.

Dynamic Traction Control DTC
DTC is a variant of the DSC in which forward
momentum is optimized for special road conditions,
e.g. snow-covered roads that have not
yet been cleared. The system ensures maximum
forward momentum, but driving stability is
limited.

The DSC indicator will flash as the system activates during adventurous driving - the DTC control can be switched on and off and in the off position will give a permanent orange display light. If the DTC light is on in may be that the system has been deactivated accidentally in which case just press the switch, just in front and to the right of the gear lever.

As Griffithskyle said, above, its probably a faulty sensor.
Mine has been doing this for over a year now, coming on and staying on, for a day or 2,then not again for a while. i tend to find it comes on mainly in the warmer weather, which made me think it was a dry connection. Dealer however put it down to a faulty sensor,at £220 to renew!!

As yet, hasnt been fixed, and the dsc/dtc still kicks in when needed :D
,but i do plan to get it replaced in due course.
Hope this is of some use to you,
Cheers
