Tracking

No probs - I'm sure some people will post about getting it done cheaper but £70 for a full 4 wheel alignment isn't exorbitant and, IMO, is money well spent

Hi Carol. Was that at a main dealer? I've recently changed all four tyres and was told that tracking would be £45 - but - they couldn't do it because it was a BMW! Apparently certain BMWs need a special gizmo to do the tracking and either BMW won't let the tyre fitter have one, or they make it prohibitively expensive so that they don't want one. Either way, I was told I'd have to go to a main dealer.

No, it wasn't. It was Priorslee Motors in telford. We use them quite a bit, they're very good.

BMW use the Hunter machine which is the best on the market, but like anything, the equipment is only as good as the user.

Ant at AP Automotive recommended A-line in Dudley as they have the very same equipment and know how to setup a car. I believe BMW charge around £200, A-Line charge around £50-60 using same equipment

Thanks for that. I've found a tyre specialist quite near to me that uses Hunter. There are no prices on their website (naturally), but I'll give them a call on Monday.

That sounds a good price to me Carol

I paid £120 at a recommended ( ) tyre fitter who did a poor job and didn't fill me with confidence - (Zed felt insecure)

Had it done again at an MX5 racing garage (recommended by Grumpybri) and it cost £75 with all adjustments explained and shown as the job was done (with weight in the Zed as well)

I've paid £120 and £60.

The guys who done the £60 one were a lot better and more knowledgeable. Both used Hunter alignment machines.

There are a lot of people getting ripped off paying over the odds for what is a pretty basic thing.

I had the Hunter alignment done and the wheels balanced with the Hunter Road Force Touch.

It was around £60 at the time I think.

Money well spent!!!
