Tracker Battery Service

I've just recieved a mail from tracker informing me i need a "5 year battery service" on the tracker currently fitted (presumably factory/dealer fitted in 2007) for my MR.

it's £199 fitted.

That's for a new "upgraded" tracker unit not a battery replacement.

Presumably it's cheaper for them to simply install another unit rather than try to find the original and then service it - if that's possible.

They'll transfer my lifetime subscription onto it.

Upgrading the service/unit is an option but as they no longer do lifetime subscriptions an upgrade would be much more £££

Currently I have no plans to sell the car.

I'm trying to decide whether to bother, anyone have any views?

Mines been in the car from new (2006), and it was still working when it was moved on a trailer in February this year.

I guess it's more likely that their trying to deprecate the older frequency/system they use, and are trying to get everyone onto a newer, cheaper system.

BTW, I've not received this offer, despite being on the lifetime subscription.
