Trackdays and mpg!

Just enjoyed a track day with my wife who also track drives in our Z4 2.2 at an event run by https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=135130413221086&ref=br_rs and expected the car to be a bit slow and twitchy. (I own a turbo 7 type car too) I have no fancy tyres as my car still has its Potenza run flats and the track was dry turning to monsoon so a good learning curve as tracks find cars weak spots quickly  however the car was fun and handled the day well and we both had a ball.
When we arrived we made a friend with Andy who had a Z4M as his weapon of choice :)
We got 40 mpg driving the 60 miles there and 18.5 mpg with the wife driving on track. I managed 17.5 mpg on track :) which is quite good and it was 40 mpg on the way home too. Our usual car for track days is a Quantum 2+2 fitted with a an RS turbo Mk1 engine but that car is up for sale and we wanted some comfort :)
There must be enough interested people with Z's to get together for a track day as the car is so good.

MPG will entirely depend on the track and how hard you drive.

e.g. I can get as low as 8mpg at Cadwell, or 14mpg at the Nurburgring, Silverstone & Castle Combe...in a Z4MC though.

Was good to meet you guys! I’ll get that video to you when I’ve got it all downloaded. Can’t help with the MPG, try not to look

Trackday and mpg should never be put in the and sentence

Best I managed was 4mpg in a 997 gt3rs 4.0 at Goodwood a few years ago. In the Z4 MC I saw 6 in June at Goodwood again.

Never seen double figures on track in the ///MR, 8 to 8.5 though only done a couple. Recall the OLD FIAT Coupe manged 11 mpg at Nurburgering.

I did a couple of track days at Blyton park in my previous Z a e85 30.i manual and that would do 40mpg on a run and it did 11mpg on track.

I'm currently looking for a 3.0l roadster with the intention of doing my first track day. I'm glad to hear that the car seemed to cope well on track.
A forum track day is something I would be interested in going along to when I get mine.

Do it, great little car. And brakes and wheels are shared with more common E46 3 series, so easy to get spares.

Im beginning to wish id not sold mine, if id have realised working from home would save me so much money i might have kept it!

You know the solution to that one.

I sold my 40k E220D and bought a Z4 3.0i SE as I'm working from home. saved a fortune and more fun! :-)
