Trackday prep

10 out of 10

My home circuit and probably the best in the country
Oulton Park edges it for me - purely on the basis that I can get there in about 3 hours less time :P

In the past, have done Cadwell (as either a driver or passenger) in an e34 M5, Z4MC, Lotus Excel, Caterham R300, Caterham CSR, McLaren 620s, XJ6, and Alfa 147 diesel (that struggled from Coppice all the way to Park Straight - but was extremely lively though the Goosneck :P ).

If we're in a group, then we stay the night before/after in the Brackenborough Hotel in Louth.

Was at Oulton last month with bike :D hadn't been for a while :o clay hill was scary on one wheel :punch:

Don't do bikes, as I'll kill myself.

Up Clay Hill in a car is easy as you've reduced speed significantly for Hislops chicane, it's the little high-speed kink that fills your trousers - along with the heavy downhill braking into Hislops (although on a bike, I assume they'd use the Knickerbrook variation).

Trying to carry speed through Island is also a bit rectum-twitching.

How good are the trackday pads on road these days? Had redstuffs before and they had to be hot to work, great on track but not great when you decide to take the car for a quick winter spin

The better trackday pads like the RS29 or the CL RC5 are fine for road use even from cold if you can put up with the low speed squeal, on road biased cars I would run separate pads On track, as it’s only 30/40 mins to swap them over!

This is my first bmw and i knew nothing about the z4 before i bought it, i’ve done plenty of trackdays before, had a couple of track cars, looks like there's nothing too particular to worry about with the z, will give everything a check over and see what it looks like, cant imagine snetterton in late November will be dry or hot so hopefully consumable wear will be low

I doubt watchers will be allowed in, but please let me know what day you're going, just in case. I live 3 miles from Snetterton.

Im booked in for monday 23rd
