Track Wheels Question

I'm looking for a set of track wheels atm, not really fussed what they look like as long as the tyres are cheap (17's 16's 15's) but was wondering whats the smallest diameter alloys that will fit over a standard 3.0 pre-facelift brake setup?
 
I have some 17s with 225/45 Kumho tires for track use.

Here is the best shot I have of them to see the clearance to the caliper.

I think 16's is the smalls you'd be able to go with on a pre-facelift. Facelift you'd need 17's.
 
Am i right in thinking the facelift 3.0 have a larger disc? So i would have even more clearance, by the looks of things deff enough for a 16 not sure about a 15 though! Nice contours btw 8)

facelift has 325mm discs.
pre-facelift has 300mm discs.

Personally I would go for 17's just in case you decide you want to upgrade to the facelift setup (which I have).
 
Ah. Didnt know the pre facelift had smaller dics. But I would go with 17s.

Thanks for all the replys ideally i would like a set of 17s contours, throwing stars or motorsports. But every man (or woman) with an E36 wants these so they are still claiming good money on eBay.

Where as loads of people upgrading there E46's to 18s put their old 16s on eBay so some thing like the below are coming it often and cheap!

Deff, rattle can anthracite / gunmetal / flat black is what i'll be doing on the ones I buy

Original 8x17 ET20. Maybe Im going to put them on my E46.
Payed 80£ :lol: Guess I can get around 500£ for them if I sell them after refurb.
