Track/Tie rods?

Hi all,

As part of my Euro trip prep the only suspension/steering part that currently hasn't been replaced is the track rod ends. Rather than just replace the ends I'm going to replace both parts, inner and outer. The car has powerflex bushes, Meyle wishbones and the B12 kit already installed. Do you think OEM will be fine or should I got Meyle? Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. :driving:

watching this..... could you post any links to what ever your findings point to so i can look into it myself :D

p.s my H&R springs arrived last night :yeah:

Hi,

Iirc there is very little difference in price between Lemforder (OEM) and Meyle, and as I had already replaced the TCA's/lollipos, strut top mounts and droplinks with meyle i finished the refresh off their track rods. It's very hard to find fault with the quality of their products, even if they were more expensive tham OEM I would still use them.

Stu.

When I researched, there were some reviews that the Moyle track/tie rods were not as good quality as Lemforder. I have Lemforder on mine, replaced them a few months ago, no issue's.

Those reviews about Meyle are what I've seen too but that could just be one bad experience that people keep finding due to the wonders of the internet. I have HD Meyle wishbones and drop links and have had no issues. Oh the decisions.

Also did you guys, who've replaced, do both inner and outer. I'm thinking both as otherwise joining a nice new piece with a corroded piece might be a tad difficult.

Agreed, think I'll just get the lemforder ones. The current ones have done 80k so can't be too shabby to last that long.

Will do but there are so many options!! Found these for £80

However I've found cheaper sets for the E46. Surely they are the same??

Idea's welcome!

Also, anyone got any thoughts on these. When I replaced the wishbone I reused the rear Bush as its was only a year old. However removing and fitting it twice has caused it to deteriorate and I wanted polly anyway. These seem good for the money but you all know the saying, too good to be true.....

http://www.carparts4less.co.uk/track-rod-and-track-rod-end - add an oil filter and use CP15LESS and they come in at £88.50.

If you're going for poly then stick with one of the decent brands. CP4Less usually stock powerflex at the lowest prices I can find and sometimes have 10% off.
