Track Day

Oh well, about to leave home for an evening session on track at Bedford autodrome an the weather looks as though conditions could be testing  to say the least....still i will have a roof over my head wich i wouldnt have had in my Westfield :D ....will try and keep it on the blackstuff and will let you Know how it Goes :driving:

 nice one, hope it goes well. Really wanting to do some track days myself soon! :driving:

I like wet trackdays, it allows yuu to have a little more fun at safer speeds and great for learning better car control in such conditions.
Enjoy

Bedford's fine in the wet as there's plenty of space to gather things back up if you do go wrong - however as it's flat you will get some standing water. Just try to keep out of the gravel by the pits, everywhere else you should be able to drive out of.

I'm going to Cadwell in August and Oulton in November/December - and funds permitting the 'Ring for a week in September/October.

Your making me jealous. I was meant to be taking My Z to Croft race circuit in North Yorkshire on Sunday but after what's happened yesterday i certainly won't be doing

Going to Silverstone in September though so it will be repaired or i will have a new one by then.

Have fun.

I hope I can make that!

:D lots of rain...lots of standing water....lots of sideways...lots of traction controll flashing at about 120 down the back straight :( ...Bedfords a good safe circuit ,it was the first time in the Z but have done it 3 or 4 times in the Westfield..got to say felt much more in controll in the Westy. I find the evening sessions thro the summer are a nice way to spend a summers evening. will hopefully get a dry one in so that i can see how far to push the Z..i will post up when i book another :driving:

Hi Galactic.

Glad it went well for you.

I've done the track with Palmer Sports package a few times now. Let me know when another evening session comes up. I live about 20 minutes away from it and would like to take my Zed there.

They were a 'gift'

I have to say that the Jaguar Single seaters were a hoot. I was pleased to overtake 7 cars within 3 laps. Personal best!
What price do you pay for an evening session and what are the 'rules' for the sessions?

I've done two track evenings at Bedford now in my Z4. As has been said, a great way to spend an evening and good value for money. 3 hours and an open pit lane means that you're out long enough to use a full tank of fuel.
Both of my evenings have been dry, and other than the first lap in the DTC setting, the traction control remains fully off. Even with DTC on the car lacks feel and is understeery in all of the bends. With it off a lot more information is transmitted back, and with the rear tyres pumped up a bit to unsettle the rear it's quite entertaining! Braking from 125-130mph on the back straight takes its toll on the brakes though (far better to let off early so that you're braking from about 100 so that they last a bit longer).
Showed a fellow Z owner how to fully turn the TC off after he'd spend the first half of the evening in DTC - 2 laps later he'd spun out into a field!

Evo have another one coming up on 11th September. Some of the journos turn up and are happy to take you out in their long termers.

Yeah, until I know the track better I just turn off DTC. I was just getting to the point of turning off DSC after about 6 day sessions at Spring Mountain in Pahrump. Willow Springs I still keep it on (2 run days). Of course I won't be worrying about that until England followed by some TLC for the car. Bushings for sure are getting swapped before it visits a track. Maybe completely new brakes too, pads at least.
