Track day insurance?

Was thinking of heading to a track day at Knockhill at some point but have been somewhat unsuccessful in trying to get an insurance quote. What does everyone else do? Is there a decent track day insurance company in the UK, or does anyone take the risk (something I could never do!).

i have done some 20 track days in my Z4 and possibly 20 in my Radical.

this is a point often discussed, but it is a personal thing to consider. i considered the cost which was best i could find at the time £300 - £350. excess was set at £5000 yes £5000.

what i have learnt is this. 1 track days are quite safe in a modern car like a Z4 so long as you keep all of the safety aids on. i take mine off now and again when the need arises. in the full wet i leave it mostly on.

choice of track day. if its cheap like £100 or so set out in 20 minute sessions it attracts a great deal of cheap metal, by that i mean £500 bangers and young men (not that i am biased, but thats the way it is). under these circumstances they are in my opinion the most risky ones to attend.

sessioned are good with novice and more expirenced classes so that faster cars and drives can drive together without harrassing others on the track.

finally it is safer on track than thrashing the tits of your pride and joy on the road as all the traffic is one direction and there is no street furnature.

go have fun start slowly keep your eyes on your mirrors have fun and dont impede others who are quicker than you! :driving:

£5K excess - eeeeeeekkkk. I don't think I could take the risk TBH, that's just too much. What if you overtook some muppet and he side-swiped you just for the sake of it? Especially if he was in a £500 banger.
