Hi all,

I am going to the open pitlane track day at Bedford Autodrome on Thurs 22nd April and wondered if anyone else was going to be there?

If anyone is interested, I think a few more spots have just become available here https://opentrack.co.uk/.

I will be the guy in the titanium silver E85 3.0i driving slowly around the track having not done one in some years and never before in the Z4!

You'll have a blast, z4s are great on track. Might have to manage the temperatures of standard brake pads and road tyres, but otherwise its all good.

I’ve done Bedford many moons ago.
Few tips if it’s your first track day.

- check your tyre pressures after a few laps as tyres will be very hot and pressure shoots up!
- don’t put handbrake on after lap as they are too hot and might stick.
- best to do a cool down lap before coming in.

Most of all enjoy yourself. Bedford is great as if you spin there is plenty of run off. ;)

I’ll be there, few guys from the Cutters group are going as well so should be good, I’ll keep an eye out for you

Not been Bedford before either so will most likely be trundling around testing bits out

Good tips, but don't let the apparent large run off fool you, by far the biggest crash I've ever had was there.
Was a rather nice m3 I had :D

Dammmmnnn! :o :o

Was that on the pit straight bit by any chance Tom? (The Hero's bend I think it's called)

(Remember seeing a video of an M3 on YouTube having a nasty accident there, May 2014....)

Also why I'm a wuss and still take track insurance!

Thanks for all the tips and stuff guys.

I've done a number of track days before in various things such as Fiesta, Civic and a mate's Morgan once. First outing in the Z4 though.

Tom, I think I might try to avoid that scenario.

Andy, I'll see you there! :driving:

It was around then yes! (scoots off to youtube :D)
I started taking insurance out after that, expensive day out

Oooh yeah i remember watching that crash as it happened! Yeah that corner is great, very fast, some cars can take it flat, others cant. Little change of tarmac just on the apex too...

I actually really like bedford. Yes its flat, but some good high speed corners, and plenty of room to play. Hoping to take the new car there at some point too.

Anyone who's done an OpenTrack day before know where to go when you arrive at Bedford? I have not received my information email for some reason...

Tom, I had also seen that crash on Youtube, glad you were OK!!

No idea either Dan, I've had the briefing email but no track specific instructions, sure it'll become obvious when we get there.
