Helloo all :D

Last weekend I treated my dad to a track day in my car. It was 4c foggy, wet and so much fun!

I really recommend it to anyone who is thinking about it!! The Z performed perfectly! Drove the 7 hour round trip and day on the track perfectly! So so impressive!

I've got a few pictures so let me know what you think!

We were generally slow, great fun though! Some seriously fast cars in the other group!!

Sorry, 'flat through Craners' is a boast lots of people use when they come back from Donington to indicate how fast they went through Craners.

Almost everyone says 'I was flat through Craners' meaning they had their foot to the floor all the way through. Very few actually do, or if they do, they're not in top gear anyway :)

It's become a bit of a standing joke on Bookatrack and it's now shortened to 'FTC' instead.

I went FTC in my old M5 on sticky rubber, although I was only in 3rd gear :D

Fair enough :D

Now that you mention it I think I was flat through craners .... :P no chance!!

Maybe in the dry I might have but not in the wet!! The way that corner cambers the wrong way is pretty nerve racking! Then the corner after before the spark plugs pretty sharp too!

I definitely want to go again in the summer when its dry! Go faster then! :driving:

On the second to last go four cars came off and on my last another span off right in front of me!

Nice set of pics and my favourite circuit. I only live 30 minutes from it and done way too many laps to remember out there

Must take my Zed out there next Spring

Thanx Dreamer I am really happy with the pics! :D

cj10jeeper wish I lived that close to the track! Its a fair old drive but a easy one, plenty of average speed cameras on the way though!!

How did you find the Z on the track? I found it faired well against a new Focus ST that was on the track but the wet track meant I lost a lot of speed in the corners. Probably my crappy driving though

Not had the Zed on Donington, but ran it on the local sprint circuit at Curborough and really enjoyed it. I think it raised a few eyebrows that an auto with paddle shifts could move around the lap so quickly.. Beat a Scubbie's lap time, but he must have been a bad driver...lol

Have done Donington in a variety of Ferarri's, a 205 rally car, a full race Westfield (Lotus 7 Wannabe) and a day testing all of the hot hatchbacks back to back  FTC - never

Don't think we have a saying for 'flat through the molehill' - not that I'd want to do that at that point of the circuit though :erm:

I quite like wet trackdays, as it lets you get to know the handling characteristics of the car at a safer speed. Plus you get to keep up with the Caterwestical brigade.

The Molehill scares the life out of me at Curborough as you approach it after that hard accelerating long left flick right and there it is in front. The Zed's nose feels so vulnerable and I saw a battered car being dragged off it last tiem there :driving:

Anyone doing any of the BMWCC track days?

I've booked for the Oulton Park one (20 mins away) on Friday 13th Feb - no, I'm not superstitious

I was flat in 3rd at Craners last month, does that count.........When the track dried out in the afternoon I started using 4th and there's no flippin way I could EVER go flat in 4th at Craners.Tipping into the left off camber at a ton was plenty fast enough for me thanks very much. Love that track though, fast flowing but very technical. :driving:

Would be good to get everyone togeather and have a Z4 day there!

Did people have the traction on off? I kept it on but have been thinking if its better to have changed it to DTC instead?

bigshurv have you got a 3.0 I didn't reach 100 going into craners!

This was my first time on the track :)

If you are thinking about it then I would definitely recommend it! Its not expensive and is a lot of fun!
