TPMS Question

Good Afternoon All,

I recently changed from 16" Spoke wheels with RFTs to 18" 135 Replica wheels with normal tyres. I have only just recently had the thought about the TPMS, I drive an Z4 2005 2.5i, how can I tell if it is the DSC or direct TMS method?

The light hasnt been on since I changed, but I thought it would be a good idea to check.

Thanks in advance,

AJ

The rule I know is UK is ABS Sensors and the US on facelift was the tyre pressure sensors, but I've not heard a lot on how the latter work.

I'm assuming it didn't need resetting when you changed, I'd almost be tempted to take 15psi out of a tyre briefly to see if it flags, not sure how else you'd tell.

I'm guessing you didn't see any strange sensors on the old alloys, but I have no idea how these would work anyway... maybe some of our american friends can suggest how you can tell?

Thank-you for the quick reply.

The new wheels look fantastic thats why it hasnt past my mind until today!

Just another question.... I just took a drive and felt some feedback through the gear selector (Auto), is that normal? It is not when the car is stationary but when I accelerate?

Feedback? You mean a little vibration? Don't know about the auto, but I definitely get it through the shifter on a manual. I would only worry if the vibration were irregular in timing and pronounced.
