TPM's and tire goo

I would be surprised to find one of the valve stem sensors in the wheel, it is far easier to compare wheel rotational speeds using the ABS monitors. My old E85 had the reset feature which would take a few minutes to correct itself indicating that it had to wait until it could match all the wheels, i.e. each wheel rpm is +/-% within the average of the four wheels, if one wheel rpm is suddenly higher by some predetermined % above the average it determines it has lost pressure, as it is now a smaller diameter and therefore has to rotate faster to keep up.

However as I haven't got my new Z4 I cannot say that this will be the same.

US spec Z4's (and probably most other cars) do not rely on ABS is in the UK and europe, they have a sensor in each wheel.
To the best of my knowledge these internal sensors are require on all US spec cars starting with the 2007 models.

US spec = in tire monitor. I wouldn't dare put goo in there. Bosch makes the sensors, but I hadn't thought of it being covered by warranty. I've had the tires replaced (and had to plug one yesterday, grrrrrrrrrrrrr--but worked like a charm. So much for not repairing RFTs) but they didn't rebuild the sensor. Glad they didn't. :)

Your must be pulling my leg, seriously US spec Z4's don't have ABS, holly cow

They have ABS, just don't use it for TPM's is what I think he means.

ABS is standard over here.

I'm sure that was the intent as ABS is used for what is was designed for and that is an anti-lock braking system which prevents the wheels on a motor vehicle from locking up (or ceasing to rotate) while braking.
