torsional rigidity Z4M roadster vs F-type roadster

Last week I test drove a F-type roadster V6 S for a full day… One thing I noticed is that that the car has a very stiff body, there was really low body flex and it felt that the torsional rigidity was very high. It felt stiffer then my Z4M roadster… So is the torsional rigidity higher on the F-type roadster then on the Z4M roadster? Car technology does not stand still and between my Z4M and a F type is period of 7 years development. Or could it be that driving my Z4M roadster on a track (150 laps Nurburgring) makes my car a little less stiff then when brand new? So people told me that track driving could do this? Sounds strange if this would, could happen...

torsional rigidity of the Z4M roadster is 16.000 Nm/deg …. No idea what the figures are of the F-type convertible.

The new car with all its new bushes and links probably does feel stiffer... your car is very much used so even lower rigidity cars would probably feel stiffer when new, you'd need the figures to actually know however... If that figure really bothers you so much.... buy a coupe. :evil: :evil:

Funny your doing that test as I really feel these are the modern day z4m.
 
It's a beautiful thing and the V8 especially sounds fantastic.... The torsional rigidity figures are hard to find for the convertible; the coupe is 33,000 Nm/deg.
 
Don't know much about the rigidity but I really wan't to hear how you got on with the F-Type! One of my favorite recent cars
 
Well they claim that the F type roadster is 10% stiffer in torsional rigidity that the XKR-S, which is 16,500 Newton .

So about 18,000. Given the extra weight of the F Type, there is little in it compared to the zed. I bet there are less creaks and rattles though :D
 
They are nice cars, apart from the boot space. Here's hoping they sell shed loads of them, so they depreciate nicely and we can all move over to the Jaguar Forum in a few years time. :wink:
 
The Z4M is quicker than the V6S F-Type. The Jag's a nice car but too expensive and I don't see it as a Z4M at all really. It's got an Auto box and it's podgy too.

Still, it wouldn't do if we all felt the same way.
 
I've recently had a debate about this chassis rigidity deterioration with track use....true...or...false...can't say I feel it with my track car and it must have covered 4000 track miles equating the useage...???
