Torque Reaction Bushes

I'm not ver technically minded when it comes to cars, so my local trusted indy takes care of everything.

It is in at the moment for it's Inspection II and as part of this, they have noticed that there is excess play in the torque reaction bushes... great I said, but what does that mean? Receptionist tells me that there is a noticeable noise when steering, that it will 'probably' affect the handling and tyre wear will be uneven. It may also cause untold damage to the rest of the suspension set up.

£220 she wants to replace. I said to go ahead, because although the receptionist may not know what she is talking about, I trust the mechanics entirely, no questions asked.

I have no doubt the car needs it/them/whatever but my question is, wtf are they are what do they do?

Cheers

Sounds like the front lower control arm bushings to me. Pretty common issue on the Z4 and E46 iirc (my mates garage has done a few!). That bush basically holds the torque and braking effect of the wheel to dampen vibration etc.

Edit: I think its Number 8 here:

Willing to be proved wrong though, as this was just an educated guess!! :)
