Went on a good run about at the weekend NO motorways :driving:
and i'm amazed how many soft top i passed with their tops up, and not just Z4.
Makes me wonder why some people buy them it the first place, what a waste of money :|

yep i agree- if you have one use it- if not whats the point! Me and the Mrs always the have the roof down on both our cars!!

I'll have the top down in winter... but... if I'm doing a lot of motorway miles I'll have the top up even if it's bright and sunny. The economy drops and it's not very pleasant at all - too noisy, especially lorries.

Agreed - I have the top down all the time if it's dry, except winter on the motorway. Can understand people who have it down less - but not having it up with recent weather! Waste of money.

I clicked in to this thread coz the title suggested a cheap holiday in the sun :tumbleweed: :tumbleweed:

Def roof down in this fantastic weather. Plenty of time for the roof up or hardtop on when Britain returns to normal

here its too hot for top down in summer (you will be a dark shade of red in under an hour) - top down at night / winter is glorious tho

Have to agree with Hotride... Middle of summer with the top down is not fun - much better to be out of the sun in the cool air con... not pleasant driving at 100km/hr on a 40 degree day - like sucking on a hair dryer!!!

Thankfully we do enjoy a LOT of excellent Roadster weather days here..

Roof down at every opportunity for me

However, I'm not fussed what anyone else does with their roof, nor do/would I pass judgement. They buy their cars for their reasons, not mine.

I have personally been told by a couple of female drop head owners that they bought them just to say they own one. But wouldn't dare to put the top down. As it might muss up the hairdo. I thought it was guys that bought cars for egotistical reasons.

I have been known to run the aircon while the top is down when stuck in traffic or in a slow speed zone.

Cheers

My jack russell, bob, loves sitting on my wife's lap with the roof down, luckily my wife isn't a barbie doll type of woman, so she's happy to accept that her hair will be a mess when we get to our destination. She assumes when the weather's nice that we'll have the top down so puts her barnet in a pony tail.My 1st wife wouldn't have the roof down on the cabrio we had back in the 1988 as it would "mess up my hair". Stupid cow. :D

I was in death valley a fortnight ago, not in the zed, but it was a soft top. North of 40 was definitely too hot for roof down, never thought that possible - i like the sucking on a hair dryer analogy.

There is definitely a "too hot for a convertible" temperature!! My wife and I have had some nice combination wind / sun burn after an hour on the highway on a scorching day... Thankfully, my wife isn't "high maintenance" and loves dropping the top as much as I do...
