Top of dashboard speaker

My car came with the very average standard speaker setup. I've added the tweeters which has definitely improved the sound a bit.

I am not very knowledgeable with stereo wiring!
Is it worth adding the speaker (and tweeter?) to the top of the dash where the grille is? If so, where do the wires from the speaker actually go, to the back of the head unit? I'm thinking removing head unit would be hard.

Thanks for any help.

The centre speaker is part of the premium speaker set up, as you can see in the attached pic.
It would connect to an amplifier in the boot, but if you don't have this (which I'm assuming you don't) then it isn't worth trying.

Here's a post I replied to someone else the other day, food for thought....

OK, first of all lets try a different approach.....

What do you currently have? Business or Professional?
Do you have Bluetooth hands free?
Do you have a USB/AUX in the centre console?
Do you actually have speakers in the tweeter housings on each door pillar? (may need a torch shined into it to see)

If your answers are...
Either (doesn't really matter)
No
No
No

Then you could easily have OEM but upgraded.
It's a relatively straight forward retrofit to have a later spec Professional head unit fitted that has Bluetooth and USB control built-in. And then just fit the USB/AUX socket in place of the AUX, along with the cable and the steering column upper shroud with the microphone and cable.

I have the whole process on my DropBox account here >>> https://www.dropbox.com/s/b18u0025vmc51ct/Stereo%20Install%20BMW%20e89.docx?dl=0

Hope that helps.

OK thanks AnubisZed. Looks like I'll leave it. Only other idea I had was to swap all existing speakers with better ones. Do you think this is worthwhile?

Replacement speakers will make only a marginal difference as the speakers are equalised in the head unit.

Go big or go home (a pro install or one made for the car) is my sentiment here otherwise you risk muddling the sound further.
