Top hose removal

Hi all,

The hose that goes from the oil filter housing to the top of the rad, has a metal retaining clip. I've removed it and it won't simply pull apart. Am I missing something? Or is it just brute force? '08, 2.5 N52

Many thanks,
Dan

If it has never been apart it will take some force to pull it apart, had the same issue when replacing the oil cooler gaskets on my Z4.

It's only the o-ring seal holding it. Try gently wiggling up and down. You can also insert a flat blade between the end of the hose and the metal housing to apply a little pressure, but careful you don't damage the plastic.
On the plus side, it implies the seal is still pretty good.
Why does it have to come off?

I'm replacing the gaskets on the oil filter housing and it's very oily.

I've noticed that the oil leaking on the pipe has made it soft and the edge has split around the metal band. I'd prefer to replace it than risk it.IMG_20251129_192653.jpg

Are you able to get this pipe aftermarket?

Genuine Part number - 17127537717

I just need the pipe, not the plastic connectors.

Many thanks,
Dan

You are likely to find the seals are flattened in the connectors. Change the whole thing. It’s not that expensive and would probably be a false economy not to

I got a replacement hose assembly today. Hopefully it's not stuck on the radiator like it is on the filter housing...
