Top Gear Tonight - the liked the new Z4, but....

Would have been a real bummer if it was as quick! Good show though!
at the follow through, understeered pretty bad too.I also enjoyed the show even though the Majorca race could've been a bit better. Anyway i have to say that to my eyes the new Z4 is starting to look better and better. I at first didn't really like its new softer look but it's slowly growing on me. Mind you i still prefer the harder more muscular looks of the M coupe (not to mention the more characterful engine). Also relieved to see that ours is still faster too! 
That Nissan is pretty fast too isn't it? Didnt expect it to be faster than the Z4 to be honest.

Thought it was interesting that both Hammond and Clarkson both were very excited about the new Z4, and despite the "victory" of the 370Z spent almost no time referencing it when both cars were side by side in the studio.
Having seen the new Z4 in the flesh, and spent a good 30 mins looking at it (whilst waiting to collect my Z4MR), it really does look the part in the tin. No photograph or footage that I have seen captures how it looks when you are stood staring at it. I was sceptical, having seen images only before, and ended up being completely bowled over. I would describe it as very classy, rather than sporty.
In the White, the 370Z looked fantastic but, and in no way is this a dig, very Japanese. Whilst assuredly a very impressive car, Ricers really don't engage me that much. That hasn't stopped me booking a test drive in a fortnight so, we shall see...

Think I'm in a minority but it seems more about Clarkson's ego than anything else. How many bhp did he say? And performance is? Oh, he forgot while he was talking 'testes'.
If I'm 46 and disabled and don't find the Z4 harsh, what does that say about him? Past it, IMO.

The new Z4 is growing on me, especially when i saw a white one in the showroom at Sytners last week. I was surprised at how much Jeremy liked it though. And it was quite good around the track.

agreed, i think they know bugger all about cars, its just more the opinion of an old man, a short man and a bloke who drives a panda! to be honest anyone could do that job.
Clarkson just says things for effect. He hated the original Z4, then when he reviewed the Z4M didn't like that but later changed his mind.
Then he decided the Z4 was 'ahead of it's time' looks wise and decided the car was probably 'the best looking sports car around'. If you have a read of his Sunday Times reviews on the Z4, Z4M and 3 series convertible.IIRC

Would not worry as Sammy z said he changes his mind like the wind i remember seeing a re run of an old episode and he pointed to a picture of a Z4 Roadster saying something like the more i see that car the more i like it its a great looking car JC is a Dick Head most of the time but can be funny occasionally.
Have not seen the show yet i caught the end in Majorca looked amusing will watch the re run.

Going slightly off-topic......350Z not to my taste but was talking to someone who'd bought one. Earlier this year she picked up a dealer pre-registered car, no miles on it, list price £35k, she paid £20k.
Nice show last night, JM was lucky. it was funny. I'm surprised JC liked it. I still am not convinced about the new Z4. very happy with my M. If a V8 z4M i'd definitely think about it.
I agree some of the comments on bulky 370Z. the back looks funny. I wouldnt buy it cause its not a roadster.
