Autocars latest review in the UK wasn't that great, nor is this month's Car magazine. All comment on the fantsatic engine though.

I reckon they're probably being harsh - I think it makes a compelling choice against a Boxster S.

I'm deff going to have a go in one at some point. I had a New Shape 2.5 for a week and loved the styling but it was a bit soft.
Just hope that BMW keep tweeking to get it back up there with the Boxter

Nothing wrong with it as far as I'm concerned and would buy it again

I don't blast around corners all the time but the odd time I have the handling was a lot better than my last z with sports suspension

While I enjoy the program there is a clear bias against the Z4 and BMW in general.... :(

Now I never normally swear on forums, but, wankers! :P

This is about the S though!

Have they somehow ruined the Z4 slightly with the S version as Clarkson loved the 35i and I for one think the B road capabilities of mine are far greater than my old Z4? Can't see how they could spoil it though? :?

I think most press verdicts argue that 35i is good enough, and more expensive 35is just has more power (and different body styling).

To be fair when i drove the new Z4 it was lovely, but a little too grown up for my likings.

I have to agree with the above statement, however Top Gear do seem to approve of the M3!

Interesting that the price of the "35is" is almost the same as the old M, so with the "35" being the old "3.0" replacement, I would guess that it would mean that the new M would be about 49k as a starting price. With some toys, it would get early fifties which is about as high as I would want to pay for that though.

The 35is is already as fast as a manual M3 Coupe (4.8 sec). To make a new Z4 M, it needs at least 400 hp and hit 62 mph in 4.5 sec. Price tag will be £6k more (M3 Coupe is £53k).

I think £50k + options, I would have liked to buy the new M, but 2+ years after the launch there will be a new model out :headbang: so the car will be dated :headbang:

I always buy my new cars in the first year of production, that way I more or less have a current model for 5+ years :) and I will not bow to BM's marketing strategies

I still have not seen many new Z4 in my area yet (but loads of pre-facelift Z4 and MX5 around).

This is why I did not buy cheaper and better spec. E90 because new 3-series will come out next year.

i was just reading the car, review on the is, unfortunatly they say its basically a turkey and they definatly will be NO Z4M in this model range. They did comment the overall quality/interior is much better.

I have just done some simple calculations and found out it won't work in terms of price and performance.

The price difference between M3 Saloon/Coupe (V8) and 335i Saloon/Coupe (3-litre twim-turbo) is about £15k, and 0-62 mph is 0.7 sec faster in M. 35is can already achieve this in 4.8 sec, so new Z4 M has to do 0.5-0.7 sec faster to justify. If BMW makes it, it will be the fastest production BMW (standard without modification) ever. Does any standard M car get to 62 mph in less than 4.4 sec? M3 with M-DCT does it in 4.6 sec. The price for the new Z4 M will be priced between £55k and £60k.
