I don't doubt the airport is closed, just I suspect permission had to be granted etc etc.

For sure they got approvals. Just as they did to park on the harbour at Puerto Banus. Where they stopped is actually the boat fuelling area and cordoned off. Payment to the harbour and I'm sure a few super cars can park.

A Ferrari is on my bucket list, but I was taken aback by the damage to that 458 after the runway dash. The damned thing looked like it had started to dissolve 
Another Mclaren vote here. What a great car for a first effort from a British factory and company.
I used to park next to an R8 V10 at the station and I'm sorry to say in the flesh it isn't very dramatic at all. It looks a bit like a slightly stretched TT. I don't doubt it's a great steer but in this company it's way out of its depth. In the real world it is also a helluva lot slower than the 12c and 458.

Yes, it was a very good episode.....and I too would take the McLaren then the Ferrari, as the R8 is just too "ordinary2 to drive; it doesn't have any sense of occasion, and you could as easily be driving an A6, unfortunately.
As for the damage/repairs to the Ferrari (and McLaren), they will write it off against publicity/business costs as cj said...but still shocking at how easily and badly damaged they were in one Airport run...I had my car(my previous z4/black 3.0i) and a few other more expensive "sports/super"cars on the strip at East fortune airfield in the past, with nothing more than the odd stonechip on those!
Was talking to a Ferrari worker/driver at Goodwood, where they had the f12 that Clarkson drove in the Scottish(sorry, English, lol)Countryside on topgr the other week, and its the one they will use for all UK/European PRESS promos/mags/t.v work, etc as with other Supercar/Sports car makers.
The F12 had to have its Front end/Front bumper FULLY RESPRAYED after Topgear/Clarkson had taken it to Scotland for the Day...and you could still see ALOT of stonechips on the Wing mirrors, etc.
Wouldn't want to buy one of those "ex-demo cars" haha

I had my deposit returned on a MP4-12C because
1/deplorable unreliability, even the sat nav/phone doesn't work properly on a lot of cars and that's the minor issue!
2/dealer visit would have been a 250 mile round trip, and if the problem could not have been repaired that day it would of course been a 500 mile round trip in total to collect a few days later, which is a nonsense!
3/car is half way through it's life cycle.
4/in the end I thought the car wasn't worth the potential hassle of taking it back to the dealer every couple of months to have problems sorted!
I'm sure the 2015 P13 should be well sorted after McL learning from the 12C problems.
Yes I think the R8 was the best all round car and the 2015 model should be better still.

In my opinion the R8 looks good from the side but the front still looks like any other Audi and nothing special.

...and believe me some of the angles the R8 can pull in the corners without losing it are quite shocking.

Have you? I've test driven three cars circa 100 miles in total and they are way to fast for the road, and they're a bit rough and ready, nothing like the fit and finish of a Porsche 991 IMO "all that glitter's isn't
always gold" (and I had a holding deposit on a car in May)
