Top Gear Power Laps Z4M

Randomly looking through the Top Gear website decided to look at the power laps! The Z4M does pretty well beating some tough opposition! Only 0.2 sec slower than a Lamborghini Gallardo and quicker than the Caymen S and the Carrera 2 S. Had great pleasure rubbing it in my dads face as he has a C2S.

Take a look.

Biggest suprise is how quick the 1M is, different Stig I think but still a seriously quick time.

The Z4M roadster posted a very respectable time God knows how fast a coupe would have been! :poke:

With all that extra lard? Why do you think they ran the roadster? LOL :driving:

Here is the Z4MR VS the Porsche Boxster S. Hammond is a bit of a bell at first but then sees the light :P

I have the original BMWCar magazines with the 3 pieces they did on the Z4MC and the Z4MR. They reckon it does 0-60 in 4.7secs after testing

To give the opposition a chance of course! The wobbly old roadster with all the additional drag was never going to shine like a torsionally rigid, sleek coupe :poke:

I have the original Evo magazine that reviewed the Z4MR against te Alpina roadster and the Boxster S. Z4M came out on top of course! The mag's also good as it had a full double page advert for the 'M' in imola red, Nice bit of memorabilia that I'll pass on when (if) I get round to selling the car :)

Extra lard 5kg? Yeah you've got a point my spare tyre weighs about that and I do run slower

Stiffer chassis set up though. I wonder if there would be any difference...

FWIW (not much probably), sport auto has quicker times in a straight line and also around a track for the Roaster, than the Coupe.

It's so dependent on conditions, driver etc, pretty meaningless tbh.

Anyone know what the 'our car' was in those lap times?

FWIW? priceless for winding up the coupe brigade  Stuck with a tin roof and slower than a roadster. lose lose situation. :poke:

Not to split hairs here but, don't the coupe's handle better in the corners because the roadsters don't have that extra bracing?

the M coupe runs around the neighborhood of 32000 Nm of torsional rigidity. i have a feeling all that lard would be faster around a track than the MR.
