Top Gear Is Shite

I enjoy watching it for the entertainment but yes some of it is a waste of time but the restsurants scene in the hovercraft was hilarious.

Also I don't know the obsession with the F type...there were two convertible union jack livered ones idling right outisde my window this afternoon but I wasn't bothered, guess I'm more of an Aston girl. :)

Isn't it interesting that all those people that say they hate Top Gear and what a load of rubbish it is always watch it anyway!

For goodness sake you should know by now that's it's an entertainment show and not a serious motoring review programme so stop criticising it for being something it isn't.

Deja Vu. We seem to have one of these threads after every episode.

Thank god i dont pay my tv licence anymore (3 years and counting). :P

Why not?

Because they actively cover up pedo nonces and the vast majority of programmes are crap. Plus they under the cover of Capita bully and intimidate people into buying the licence.

There's a well know theory that countries can talk themselves into a recession. Through news and media reporting on negativity a response is one of battening down the hatches, spending less/hiring less etc and subsequently increasing the possibility of recession. If that theory hold true then you could argue that a good way or reversing such a thing would be to inspire confidence and talk up a recovery.

As I say, just a theory.

By the way, I like Top Gear and think its a fine entertainment show about cars. Fine enough to be the biggest format export BBC Worldwide has and watched in 99% of the worlds countries; the revenue of which comes back to the BBC and helps keep the license fee down and pay for more content.

Still the Big Guvnor boy :) wont get it.....duh!

If you can't see you were talking pish it's you that needs to open your eyes. Since when has promoting British industry and jobs been propaganda you muppet?!! :headbang:

First of all let me explain what the term propaganda means.

Propaganda is a form of communication aimed towards influencing the attitude of the community toward some cause or position by presenting only one side of an argument. Propaganda statements may be partly false and partly true. Propaganda is usually repeated and dispersed over a wide variety of media in order to create the chosen result in audience attitudes.

Now as expressed by numerous posts in this topic many people have a positive feel good reaction e.g "proud to be British" and the impression that our country is actually doing all right producing many quality goods.
This feeling can inspire confidence in some gullible people who then in theory are more likey to spend spend spend. This is beneficial to the country and so is what the government wants.

This is not actually a big deal to me as i can clearly see it, but what does annoys me is immature insulting comments from people who want to act big and dont really know what their saying and to who.

Fair enough reasons, but I though you had to have a license if you own a TV or radio? i.e. even if you only watch Sky 1 via satelite, you still need a licence.

So are you breaking the law, or no TV etc?

(not stirring, just interested).

No man ....only need a tv licence to watch live tv as its broadcasted out.

Dont need a licence to listen to the radio.

UK law requires that a Licence be held by anyone using Wireless Receiving Equipment. This covers both terrestrial, and satellite receiving equipment. You do not own the content that your dish can receive and so you must pay a license to drive. It is like being able to drive a car but not wanting to pay for your license. it's just something you must do.

Just take your name of their register. They send letters to "legal occuppier" ...just ignore these threatening letters, dont even open them.

They'll send some goons round to knock on your door. Your not legally obliged to give them any information at all...just shut the door on them.
They will use what you say in court to prosecute you so just shut the door on them....give them no evidence. They cannot prosecute you with no name....you can only give them this.

Heres a wee clip.

Talk about off topic & I thought we were discussing our views of top gear - now some is us seem to be promoting borderline law breaking and full on aggression with minor state employees doing a humble job. Think most of us on here might watch the odd bit of other tV , eg news, footie, tennis so kinda accept we should buy a license. Those who don't simply push up the price for those who do - thanks for that.

Back to Top Gear.
Has any body noticed when May and Hammond do car reviews on track and there are moments when the car is oversteering, but when the camera cuts back to them they aren't doing any over steering at all. Check out Hammond reviewing the Aventador or May in the 991 Porsche 911. It's not them driving the cars from the outside car camera shots.
