Top Gear Is Shite

I would like a new RRS and a Jag F Type please. Or maybe just the Jag. Actually, just the Jag

For car people Top Gear is s**t. For entertainment value... its ok.. the recipe is getting old now. Its so staged its BS.

I said the exact same things a few weeks back and got a total slating saying "don't watch it then," "no ones forcing you" and you can imagine the rest of the tirades.

I still love it but some of the daft pranks they did, just killed it for me...

Todays episode I actually enjoyed and to see my f1 man Webber was best yet. Good luck to the guy in Porsche racing..hopefully he doesn't have another Seb as a team mate.

I loved it!

Admittedly the bus bit was a bit stupid and dull but where else are you going to see a bus race around a track?!

It stopped being a car show 10 years ago... Its now just 3 idiots messing around occasionally with cars!!

Its a bit like an idiot abroad! Not too factual- but seriously funny; with good scenery!

A lot of people on here seemed to enjoy it, including me and I'm pretty sure that we're all car people...

Annoys me how the seem to deliberately damage cars and be proud of it. Was funny the first few times, but makes me cringe now.

Some episodes are really good. enjoyed Africa special etc.... but a bus? really?

Agree. I like it.

Also agree it's more entertainment that factual. I'm not that interested in seeing a program that gives detailed road test on, for example, a VW UP mind!
I also like 5th Gear but I have to record that because I usually end up forwarding most of it. The last series was good mind.

Top Gear is the best .. it is mainly an entertainment programe not a boring car review programe...

I liked the last 10 minutes too :D what about the programe on German cars afterwards ??? :D 8) :poke:

caravan race ... EPIC ...

Horses for courses really. I really enjoyed the RR sport and F-Type clips, Mark Webber's interview & lap and the Engineering piece....pretty decent easy to watch, entertaining Sunday night TV imo.

Tend to agree with most in here. I find a lot of boring so i fast forward bits but last weeks caravan car review was hilarious. Once you've got past how scripted it is you can just enjoy it as light Sunday evening entertainment.

i watch it because i do like their review of cars that i could never dream of owning - but - i dont know how representative them burning out the tires on a track actually is. But i do like the lap times from the stig.

the caravans and stupidity is just stupid

Clarkson was not impressed by BBC2's scheduling tonight... He took to twitter to Complain that they do their best to extoll the virtues of British engineering, and then BBC2 follow their efforts with "why we're all buying German".

Because Rovers are Chinese... One you've driven one, you want a proper car an hour later (or is that meals?)

Agreed, defiantly an entertainment show loosely based on motoring, but at least I can get away with watching it with swmbo.

If I want a proper fix or review I just watch a bit of Chris Harris on cars...

Its not a programme to get worked up about  Its just light entertainment and brill as far as I'm concerned, cast your mind back to the Quentin Wilson days and how dull it used to be. Always love their experimental pursuits, the hovervan, best for me was the Renault Espace cabriolet etc. Its become a bit of an institution and hope it carries on :)

Tim.

I don't mind it when they set up races and challenges and situations to look real even if they are fake but recently
it's all looked so contrived. That trial bike racing some parcour guys through BBC centre was appalling. It was obviously all set up and choreographed, but done in a way where it was supposed to look spontaneous. The worst piece of telly I've seen for years.
Also that taxi race was totally unbelievable.

I remember when May And Clarkson had to make an advert for the new VW Scirocco a number of years ago.
It was brilliant TV no matter what genre it was.

Well we all have our opinion on it but for me I really like program and the presenters and yes it is staged at times BUT it is still a genuinely entertaining and funny program which is more than you can say for most of the drivel on television.
