Top down after rain?

So what do you do when it's nice & sunny but there was rain earlier so the roof is soaking wet? I has this dilemma today, so ended up driving around with the roof up when dry & sunny as I didn't want to get water the boot. :(
 
I think you made the right choice :thumbsup:

Although you could always put in a drying towel / chammy leather in the car to dry her off if it happens again :).
 
Doesn't the e89 have drain channels for when the roof is wet ? That's not great :( it's not a problem on the e85 as the roof is attached to the body round the rear and sides of course, and it drains / doesn't get into the boot.

I'd be tempted to have a drying cloth in the boot to give it a quick wipe.
 
I think he's talking about on the roof it slightly dips and water sits there. It does have drainage channels like the E85. I've been known to take a microfiber cloth over the roof to dry it or after a few minutes driving unusually find the water has dispersed and I put it down then.

Didn't think BMW would neglect drainage on a convertible ... Oh, wait a minute :roll:
 
The roof is completely separate and the whole lot gets folded into the boot so if its wet the water will run off into the boot.
The best thing to do is dry it first or pack your boot with towels.

Lol! That's just me driving ha ha! It's unusual to see me drive lol! I have driven completely starkers once.........that's driving unusually :driving: :rofl:

Yes I think the drainage holes may have been changed but I've not had a good look in that area for a while.

:? I'm pretty sure the holes will be where they always were :lol:

I find the roof dries out quite quickly, usually only takes 5min of driving. Especially if you get up to speed.

Bonnet takes ages which is why I was a little concerned about the roof.
 
A quick drive once the rain has finished will remove most water from the roof. A few drips in the boot won't harm. A lot of water will of course.
