My convertible top quilt working. I removed the top & motor looks good, no water or any signs of water, wired it to the battery & the motor runs, turned the top upside down & oil came out of the driver side cylinder. Thinking the cylinder is bad & now there isn't enough oil in the reservoir to operate the hydraulics. Anyone have any Information on replacing the cylinders?

Welcome to the forum OP.

But we do like to see photos of new members' cars!

If you are in the UK there are a few people who can often resurrect roof motors, then relocate them into the boot out of harm's way.

Oil coming out of the cylinder is certainly a bad sign. The whole circuit needs to be able to hold pressure.

Does the motor still run when you press the button? Or will it only work if you connect it directly to the battery?

It's been awhile, but to the best of my recollection everything was normal. I've had it in storage for the past year.

The last time I tried to open the top when it was still hooked up to car's electrical system, I could hear the motor operating, but nothing was happening.

Did you check the red bypass handle in the boot hadn’t been pulled? :?

It sounds to me like one of the hydraulic lines has corroded on the elbow at the entry point to the Ram. The motor will then force all of the fluid out at that point and prevent any pressure. You can usually confirm this by pouring warm water down into the well and see if what comes out the bottom drain is oily or not. The lines are replaceable (but not cheap)

I’ve found this to be the issue on several bad cases where the rams have sat in water for too long

They should look like this ideally ;-
