Hi Guys,

Just got a Z4C and all 4 bridgestones are down to 3mm which I didnt care about since I wanted to get rid of the RFT's immediately.

Checking the forums everyone seems to recommend the Falken 452's. I'm assuming for the best balance of price/performance? because they are only ranked 11th on this useful Z4 tyre chart:



I thought it would be a great idea if everyone could reply with the best price they've been quoted and from where/who if your tyre is listed. Might even be a useful sticky to get a feel for Price vs Performance with the Top 11. Will stop people re-inventing the wheel and enable them to make a quick decision

You'll also need to factor in the tyre size as there can be some significant price differences within brands between 18"s and 19"s and different tyre profiles.

This is the deal we got last month (now ended) from Costco:

2 x Michelin Pilot Super Sports 235/35R19 91Y
2 x Michelin Pilot Super Sports 265/30R19 93Y

Costco deal price £902.38 balanced and fitted.

This is a good starting point (assuming Avon variants didn't even make the list for whatever reason).

As Z4 35i it will also depend on size and certainly driving style.

I am due a new set, my priorities are-

1 noise levels
2 wet grip
3 longevity/price

Currently on F1 asymmetric and they were perfect but have only lasted 12000 miles on a 2.0

Suggestions welcome.

I have Eagle F1 AS2s which are fine, never really got anywhere near their limits. I'm always very wary of user tyre reviews - too much purchase justification going on I think - and would only trust a proper scientific test from a motoring magazine/organisation.

A poor tyre noise result is turning me away as listening to birdsong is one of the roadster special features. To my mind.

I assume all those ratings are subjective, as a third of those tyres are winter tyres, and there's no way any of those winter tyres would be up with the rest in normal dry conditions.

e.g. I buy a specialist rain tyre and it meets my expectations for wet weather grip (so I give it 90-100% for that), but it's better in the dry than I thought it would be (so I give it a 90-100% for that too). However, compared to a PSS it's useless in the dry, but the PSS only got the same 90-100% as it was expected to be brilliant in the dry.

I have just fitted Michelin Pilot Sport 3s to mine, very good wet grip, and much quieter than the run flats, and they make such a difference to the cars everyday handling. Paid £560.00 for a set of 18s (usual sizes) from Costco last month.

On that basis I suggest you disable your account and never take advice from this forum .. its a minefield of biased feedback and self justification :wink:

I tend to think the opposite, i.e, if I've just blown 1k on tyres and they suck, I'm going to let people know about it and say never again. If there's a ton of people going out of there way to write something positive, like with your AS2s being top then it can only be a good thing in my opinion. and considering the stock bridgestones are completely slated at the very bottom of the list I'd say this list looking pretty accurate

I've just spoken to my neighbour who has a 2009 z4 and he said you need to tell your insurance company if you dont fit RFT's.. is that right??

I had the F1 Eagle Asymmetric (1...) on my previous 2.5i, best tyres i ever had for every day use.

On the track, i had a set of Bridge S-02.
