I'm far from well equipped to offer any meaningful technical advice on a car, but if I have anything to offer, it is the absolute stone guarantee that your Z4M will never look as beautiful and stunning as it does the day that someone else is pulling off your driveway and departing off with it  And if it was your 'weekender', you'll immediately regret spending 50x more time washing and polishing it than driving it, that much hits home hard.

I was never really massively active or social over here, more of a lurker, but just want to say thanks to everyone who has contributed to this forum over the years providing advice for others to read up on and learn from in the future.

I'm sure the new owner will sign up over here, he's got himself an absolute winner of a Z4M.

If finances allow, I wouldn't say no to a coupe next year or a 35iS, but for now it's cheers and thanks to you lot for the fountain of knowledge here which made ownership much more enjoyable and interesting.

.

Wise words that should ring home for all those who SORN for 6/7 months or use very very infrequently  get the miles of smiles racked up & you won't ever look back & think " man that was a waste of fuel "
Shame the car has gone without you fully getting to know it , fortunately i managed almost 7000 pleasure ///Miles in 10 months & enjoyed every single one , as you say that moment the new owner drives up the road with it is a complete leveller though

Great post OP.
Sounds like it came straight from the heart, with no nonsense. Very profound words too !
Good luck with what ever wheels come next and pop by from time to time.

Dammnnnn, almost felt I was ready to sell mine after a great run, but reading threads like this makes me think twice, that thought of someone driving off with it down the road is a total leveller as said......decisions decisions......

It was the strangest and most uncomfortable feeling. This car that you've worked hard to buy, spent the best part of 18 months being in awe of, relentlessly & tirelessly keeping it clean, it's the first thing you think about when you wake to a sunny day - should I take the Z out, thinking of where you want to make improvements & upgrades, and after never yourself seeing it move - now you're watching it reverse out from your drive and take off up the road and suddenly you see the car how other people see it, now you know why people stop and stare as you coast past them, you never knew what that looked like.

It's just a car, but damn man.

It's not like my other car is a stinker, it could probably almost keep up with the Z in most situations. But whereas these new BMW's feel like you're floating on a bed of marshmallow paste, refined comfort alongwith the deliciously smooth yet crisp acceleration in the noise cancelled cabin...

Putting your foot down in the Z was like being stuffed into Hitlers underpants, having a metal cooking pot over your head being banged by a hundred monkeys, being on the edge of doom at all times with cold sweats and a coronary malfunction all but guaranteed by the time you need change up a gear or slow down. And I challenge anyone to get out of their Z, lock it, and walk away without looking back over at it in amazement that you just got to drive that thing.

God dammit :headbang:

Just... dammit man. So OK maybe I'll stick around here to perv over a car I used to once have!

I've been there before OP...guess what I bought 5 years later? Another Z4M! They worm their way into your conscience and I still haven't found anything I'd rather drive for the money. Looks plus aggression it wins vs the competition.

I'm nearly in tears reading your post. Sorry for your loss.
I hope to keep mine until I'm either too poor to maintain it or age/ill health stops me from driving it. I hope neither day comes anytime soon. I wouldn't want to drive it every day but it's so special on those days that you do.

Ouch! Not sure I'll ever be able to sell the Zed reading posts like this.

Enjoy your new steer and stick around.
