Too many previous owners?

As long as it is reflected in the price ...

It would not be for me, but everyone has a different view on that.

Reflected in the price? I don't believe number of owners should affect the price at all. If everything else checks out then it's a winner. If the car is hiding problems that cause owners to get shut then fair enough, it could make you suspicious but as said I think it's fairly common for these types of cars to change owners quite regularly. Although I can't see me wanting to sell mine unless I have to. Been driving mine to work and back for a few months now but haven't gone out for a hoon for a good while. Took a mate for a spin earlier round some twisties and was smiling for hours :driving:

Exactly, look at Inkey, he's only had the car 6 months or so. We see it frequently where people want to move on. It's not a reflection of the car at all.

I understand the doubt though. When my logbook came through it said 7 previous owners and I was disappointed. Then I thought about it and realised it really doesn't matter

I don't believe for a second that if someone has a choice, they would chose a 7 owner car over a one owner car.

Given that is the case, the 7 owner car would have to be cheaper. Also, if it never mattered, why is the fact always highlighted in any car advert that it is a one owner - because buyers do care.

If the 7 owner car ran smoother, had a better SH, was generally in better condition, I wouldn't hesitate.

I'm the 4th owner of mine (pretty average, not high or low), but if I was faced with mine, or a 1 owner ///M that had been treated like JonnyEssex' (i.e. 1 service in 7 years) I know which I'd be choosing.

If two cars were of identical, spec, condition but one had fewer owners then I'd go for that, but # of owners didn't (and still doesn't) feature high up my list of prerequisites.

Effectively, I don't believe that there will be "too many owners" as condition, spec and service history will always take precedence.

Personally I think it would be a shame to let your perfect car slip away because a few people have owned it.

I agree. 1 owner would be the cherry on the cake. But I wouldn't want the cherry without a cake ;)

It seemed more a case that M owners start to breed as soon as they get the car (testosterone levels I guess :) ). I am just waiting for Adamski to come out with the news in a few months :poke:

I'll be enjoying mine for a while before the obligatory "need some more practical" for sale thread :poke:
