Tomorrow is the day :-) **PICS ADDED**

Your ride looks good mate and so does the car :poke:

Its a pity you look like Rod Stewarts and Russell Brands love child! :fuelfire:

All in seriousness, Nice Car JDM! Good to see the adding of the stubby and I hope you enjoy the many miles )or Smiles as we call them here on the Z4 forum) in your new car! :D

PS: I still think your walnut interior is ugly!

Sorry I tried to end on a nice note but I couldnt resist taking a pop! haha! :D

That was rather civilised for you Keith :poke:

Thanks

PS - your red interior is crap and it makes you look like a homosexual that interferes with dogs..

Much like your hair! How many hours in the morning do you spend on that?

I know what you mean by grown up. I find my 2007 roadster feels grown up compared
To previous cars.

What's run in period? Until you can start driving it harder? I think I'd miss some performance a little?

There's alot of debate on this at the minute. Some are saying no run in period but I will be keeping it below 3500RPM for the first 1500 miles and then gradually increasing.

Yeah its missing the pace of my old car but its a different car altogether. Sounds weird but I dont feel like I did driving my other car. I feel like in this one Id much rather take it easy and just cruise.. well for the minute anyway :D

Andrew posted a link to the manual on the other thread and it says 4500 rpm until 1200 miles. I thought it was 3500 cos thats what my stealer told me.

Good looking car. I was as chuffed as you look in those photos when I picked mine up. I had had 9 months with no Z by that point, so was aching for it!

I ummed and ahhhed about those 19’s for ages, but my sensible side won in the end – but I do love them.

As for the interior – I think it’s a great choice. I am all about the wild/different interiors (if you’ve seen my post). My previous Z4 (2008 2.0 M Sport in Space grey with Black leather and piano black trim) was great and I really liked it, but I think the style of the new interior lends itself to deviating away from black.

Regarding the drive – I too can confirm that it feels much more grown up and solid. As an example, having washed the car a few times, you can tell there is no flex in the front or rear bumpers, whereas the old one would move a bit even if you pushed not very hard at all. I parked next to an old Z4 a few weekends ago and the old one looked so small in comparison!

Finally, on the run in – I have opted for the gentle 300, then sensible, not exceeding 4000/4500 revs approach for the next 1000 or so. Got another 200 miles to go, then will start to gun it. To be fair, the nature of the engine and low down torque means it is pretty easy to drive quickly, without stressing it at all, in the run in period. Interestingly, the service interval has not moved from the original 18000 indicated, despite me having done 1100 miles. Have the 5yr service pack, but am going to pay BMW to change the oil anyway. Can never be too sure.

My favourite thing so far is how the exhaust pops as you come off the gas. Get a bit of acceleration (hardly any required really) in a car park, lift off and enjoy the noise!

Oh, and if you are anything like me..... the heated steering wheel has changed my life!

Also I was originally a little disappointed with the Pro hifi - but like any good set of hi-fi speakers, they just took a bit of warming up. Much better now and much more bass (if not anywhere as near as good as a £855 home set up might be).

Thanks for that.. Yeah I have seen your other post. Your car is stunning. Not disimilar in colour combination to my old coupe which I recently sold to another forum member.

Regards the 19's I wanted them from day 1. To me it was worth the extra £500 or whatever it was because I love bigger wheels and would have only ended up spending silly money buying some after I had the car a few months and thought "it needs bigger wheels"... but thats just me.

Regards the heated steering wheel I gave this a quick blast this morning just to try it out and its great. Warms up quickly.

Not had chance to play with the stereo and all the settings yet so cant really comment. I will have a play about over the weekend and see what I think. I hope its good as it was bloody expensive. 650W and 16 speakers should sound pretty awesome though :D

Just catching up with this one.....

Great shot of the car JDM  - you'll be signing up to the Exclusive Roadster Club soon I presume :D

I knew there was something I meant to ask! Is yours a Week 10+ build John? If so, have you tried raising or lowering the roof while on the move to see if the rumoured change is in place?

Hi Chris

Yes it was a week 13 build. I havent tried it but will give it a shot over the weekend.

Salesman said to me yesterday another change was they have added a net within the boot to try and stop any luggage coming above the safe zone. Well he said it must be a revision as he had never seen it before on earlier zeds.
