Where are you getting that info from? :? I can't find anything to indicate 'plenty' of salt is used, a quick search says that it's not. The closest I can find is a mention that some small towns use it, but as the majority of the population live in the cities, where salt is not used, it would be pretty safe to say that salt corrosion is just not a serious issue in Japanese imports. They do use salt in Japan, and plenty of it, that's an urban myth I'm afraid. The reason it's so clean, and cars in general from Japan, is that the Shaken is so expensive that people really, really take care of their cars.
