Only just got back. That was quite a workout i tell you! Brilliant road! Amazing drive! I started from the village of Pano Panayia (actually from Paphos where i live) which is the right most start of the trace and made my way through it. It was mostly 2nd gear all the way, i only changed up to 3rd less than 10 times total.
The first 1/4 of the way was very pretty, the road immersed in trees and the smell of Pine everywhere but unfortunately too narrow to really push, you could barely fit two cars on the road and very twisty with most tight turns being blind turns, for this part my honk got as much exercise as my right foot. Then the road opened up a bit and i could really get on it, the brakes got a real workout and soon later you could smell them very strongly but they still held up just fine, the Axxis ULT's i've got on really work much better than the stock pads i had before. The braking weak point now is the brake fluid, i got a very mushy brake pedal nearing the halfway point of the route indicating i had fluid boil... I need to change to better fluid.
Anyway I then stopped here (http://maps.google.com/?ie=UTF8&hq=&hnear=Cyprus&ll=35.011246,32.668447&spn=0.005,0.009602&t=h&z=17) to let the brakes cool down a bit (they were smoking a lot!) before i continued my way to Stabros tis Psokas. That part was very, very cool as well, tight turns, hairpins, the road at a steady climb, most turns blind as before but the road was wider which made it much nicer to drive quickly. At this part my tires started breaching their optimal operating temperatures. The result? You could comfortably kick the tail out exiting turns with a bit of a nudge from the steering wheel. Brilliant!
After passing through Stabros tis Psokas i came upon what i call from now on My Favorite Twisty Road (well for the time being anyway). Just the perfect mix of tight twisty bits and road width! No straights at all, i believe i shifted up to 3rd just 3 or 4 times for a second maybe, but i just loved every bit of it. The rear tires by now had overheated.. There was still a lot of grip although maybe a tad more understeer at certain tight corners but overall i was impressed with how much grip i could still carry in the corners, the rear though.... Well if you got on the power a bit too heavily right after the apex the car's ass hanged out more than a cat's skidding on parquet flooring. AMAZING FUN!
Several slidey kilometres later i started reaching the villages so i had to slow down but the road was no less beautiful. Lovely scenic views everywhere. All in all on that trace linked above which was my "spirited drive" route i only met about 6-7 cars coming the other way and just 1 in my path which i overtook at the first possible chance, the guy just would not let me through even though it was clear he was holding me up (i did not flash the lights or honk or stick to his butt by the way...).
I highly recommend that route whenever you're on the island although i do have a suspicion that your Z4's might be a bit too big for the overhead locker in the plane...
Didnt take many pictures or any videos on the move i'm afraid. Too busy having fun!
Disks mirror smooth after a major workout!
