Having a noise when steering at slow speeds/parking, sounds like a bow on violin strings, starting to annoy me now, any thoughts? The power steering fluid is topped up, so would this be the steering pump?

When you say - topped up, does that mean it had lost fluid?

I've had it checked and it is at the correct levels, the guy reckoned it might be air in the system but I'm not so sure

Could simply be a slipping belt. Have they every been changed?

I find my steering makes a strange noise when you reach teh final 5% of travel on full lock. I thought this was normal.

Yeah, I get a bit of noise in the final 5% of turn. I also have an extremely faint (you really need to listen for it) whine at very slow speeds - basically it appears when I'm manoeuvring into the drive. For me it just isn't a concern - absolutely no issues 99% of the time and you can't hear anything at any sensible speed. I wouldn't worry, Flimper. You could throw time and money at this but I think you're just being finicketty!
