.... have got the bumper off. Car was returned on Thursday (after respray to the front to repair the scraped damage from a car park incident, see page 54 on this thread) so have been checking where the xenon bulb failure is located. Loads of moisture in the headlight!
Ballast identified as the likely culprit (otherwise its wiring), so removed the bumper and headlight - poured out about 1/4 cup of water!
Removed the ballast, took it apart - 1/2 an espresso cup load of water! Looks like its shot, but trying the dry out routine first (dry out, soft paintbrush to wipe over surfaces, WD40 sprayed, drained and let to dry in the sunshine). Lots of corrosion in there so looks like moisture's been getting in there for some time. Was surprised to find there was no gel around the components....fingers crossed its a contacts problem and not one of the components otherwise its a £100 bill...
Meanwhile, checked the headlight over to see where ingress could happen, and found this:
Looks like a rubber seal/pipe has gone walkabouts... this is a pic of another one (there are 3 on the headlight)
So now digging through the shed (aka workshop/junk store) to see if I can find something to substitute. And it's warm and sunny so should be driving
