To wave or not to wave...?

I can't help thinking the reaction you get varies according to where you are!

I'm much more likely to get a positive reaction anywhere in the country apart from the South East - where I live. :(

It's funny how economical people are with waves (and smiles). Perhaps I missed the memo that we are all being charged £20 for returning a friendly greeting! :poke:

:D I always raise a hand to all Z owners. And any classic two seater with the roof down!! But I'm old fashioned

I live in Bedford and I spotted a black Z4 MC that was really nicely modded. It had a nurberg sticker on the rear.

The chap driving his coupe saw me and we both had a moment of oh my god another M coupe and modded at that.

After the shock I waved and smiled as did he. It was great and made me happy. Clearly Z4 MC owners are a classy breed probably less ego with the roof on hahaha.

If anyone owns that lovely coupe we should meet up for an early morning blast.

Phil

I think the no wave can be mistaken identity - there are a few BMW s that face on, look very much like a Z. - if you wait and make sure it’s a Z it’s gone - then if it was you’ve joined the ranks of the non wavers!

Theres a red e89 in my area, almost identical to mine, I have now seen it 3 times.
I was at bluewater the other day and parked next to it.

I had the higher moral ground because mine was clean and theirs was not.

lol, 2 red zeds sat next to one another, but the owner is still a mystery to me., (I should have got a pic, now thinking on it)

Wonder if they will be out today, mine is clean as a whistle and ready for a good old top down sun filled tear up today.

Too many open tops and friendly ways to count today. Gorgeous day for a drive out across the moors and back. 8) :D

One no waver was noted though. Black E85, shame on you who ever you are.

So good, top down driving through Snowdonia, didn’t see any other Zeds

Waved to two black zeds around Swansea and Gower yesterday,(E85 and E89),received Who the f... are you from both!
Just goes to show how many of these are bought by poser toss-pots.More fuel to those old school enthusiasts here running clean, well maintained cars.Non-waving types probs can't even spell clean

I still wave - 1 in 4 response rate sounds about right. E89 forget, E85/86 women driver forget it.

So it's the same where you are with E89s and women in E85/86s - I thought it might just be a local issue! :(

Ouch!! I will change the tide, if I see you Zs I will definately wave, look out for this E85 "woman" Z driver in North London area

Got a wave today ( my first from a Z4 only previous was from a Z3 ) a couple in a red e85 roadster.
About 4 ish this afternoon I was driving into Hathersage with my wife as shotgun in our Sterling e85 roadster ( roof down of course )
A couple in their red roadster (roof down) coming the other way , I was in two minds to wave or not but they waved first so waved back (would be rude not to) :D

In the MX5 world, "The Wave" used to be a big thing, very much like with old MGs. When the Mk2 was introduced it died down a bit but Mk1 drivers continued. Then the Mk2 was facelifted (Mk2.5), the Mk3 was introduced the facelifted (Mk3.5) and facelifted again (Mk3.75) and now the Mk4 has been introduced.
With each change, it seems the wave has become rarer and rarer. Buyers of the newer cars aren't always buying them because they are enthusiasts, they are buying them because they want a small, cute, 2 seat roadster. They aren't interested in acknowledging other owners and especially not those in older versions.
These days, it's even worse as the oldest '5s are very cheap and are being bought by kids who want a cheap "skid" car and they are only interested in driving like dicks. They don't care about the car or other owners.

It's good to see that there are still some wavers in Z4s but I expect (from my previous experiences) that they will be a dying breed

 Let's make it a criminal offence not to wave. I wave at all if they wave back great if not their loss. Tbh I acknowledge most cab drivers especially when it's cold...

For a moment I thought you meant cab as in taxi!
Had a moment where I thought why would you ever want to acknowledge one of them! I guess I don't hear the word cabriolet mentioned very often!
