To wash or not to wash...

That is the question. I have today off work and my poor zed is sooooo mucky from all the wet roads lately. Trouble is, I think there's some more rain forecasted for today. What would you do?

I'd wash it, dry it as best I can before it rains, finish it in the garage if needs be. If you don't have a garage then just do steps one and two.

I tend to rinse the car every week (500 miles), just to get the worst of the crud/grime/salt off.

It only gets a proper wash once a month in winter (2000 miles).

If nothing else it's too bloody cold to be outside for 2+ hours getting wet :(

I don't currently have a jetwash otherwise I'd do this too. I think that might be my Boring Dad Christmas present to myself

Find a local caring handwash place and take it there. Probably best to take the daily car there first to ensure they do it right.

Andi.

Definitely wash, like anything keep on top of it and it takes less time, if you delay then the job becomes much harder. Besides who enjoys walking upto a dirty zed!,,

I enjoy seeing the 'speed lines' on my bonnet and across the rear wings.

Not a chance i'd be washing a car in this weather. It's just not worth it.

Mmm, speed lines.

More of a "speed dribble" on mine, admittedly...

Comtactless or nothing. Pointless just dragging grit and dirt around the car when it will get filthy in 50 miles.

Some of the guys on another forum have rigged up their hot water to the hose system with twin taps and a 'Y'' connection and now run warm water through the jet wash with great results. Def thinking of doing as I have easy hot water pipe access in the garage.

+1 insisted on this when I had plumbing put in the garage. It make a big difference to shifting road crud!

I've not washed mine in a while, looks filthy now (is a white z4) but actually I think white dirty cars look quite good! I don't intent to wash it all winter.

My black zed just doesn't wear dirt well. It's especially not nice seeing other black cars on the road all shiny & clean while mine looked like a dog's booty. Maybe I'll try & stick to once per month though :-)

Many of those shiny clean ones will have been through a local hand car wash though, and will look awful reasonably close up in sunshine

I know right! Especially when it's a super glossy clio or 306 and you've got a dusty zed. :fuelfire:
