Sell the zed.
Buy a small hot hatch for about 3k.
You have something you won't be worried about the car park with, plus the opportunity for a bit if fun driving if your mood takes you.
Who cares if you kill a six year old Clio.

Spot on. If you aren't making up reasons to get it off the drive and take it for a hoon then you should sell it. I only do 2.5-3k a year in mine but every mile of that is because I'm aching to take it out for a spin. I don't have to use it for anything. I have another car for all of the mundane stuff.

You can buy a realy good cheap 1000cc car on ebay for around BP400-00. If it breaks down you dont have far to walk. I dont understand what you use the KIA for anyway.

Same boat as me, just wish I could find more time to take it out

Only costs me £1k per year though so its staying and as the kids get older it will get more use as they won't need looking after.

Heres my predicament...

I love my Zed but at present I live at home with my parents and have a choice of 3 cars to drive (drive other cars under admiral policy)

1) Audi A7 TDI Quattro SE S-Tronic (3.0)
2) BMW Z4 Coupe Auto Sport (3.0)
3) Kia Soul Hunter Auto CRDI (1.6)

I presently work 1 mile from home (walking distance) and so I dont take the car to work unless I have to (running very late or need to go somewhere straight after work and cant use the Kia).

To now its been used as more of a weekend car / enjoyment and so has yet to clock 40k.

However I'm about to do a deal with my local sports hall to use their gym as well as my regular 4 hours of badminton a week. This means potentially I will need to travel

- 1 mile to work in the morning
- 2 miles to the gym / badminton hall every day
- 1.5 miles to home everyday

As you can imagine I dont really want to use the BMW for these types of journeys and nor would the Kia be appropriate.

Obviously the best thing would be to walk / cycle but I'm going to need to carry stuff with me and will probably be quite tired out come the end of the day and dont want to walk home in the cold / wet after gym / sport.

So the question is, do I:

1) Sell the BMW, buy a small petrol engine manual
2) Sell the BMW, buy a small petrol engine auto
3) Sell the BMW, buy a hybrid
4) Sell the BMW, buy an electric car
5) Keep the BMW, use the Kia for these trips (where possible)
6) Keep the BMW, buy a moped / small motorbike
7) Keep the BMW, buy a really cheap runaround and try and keep costs low (very unlikely this is feasible)
8) Try and cycle / walk
9) Try it with the BMW and see
10) Dont bother, just get fat and stay as is

Couple of caveats are,
1) If downsizing I would not be able to spend more than the value of my current car (say £13k for arguments sake) on a replacement
2) If downsizing a 5 door would be preferable so that my mum & dad could also use it as they very rarely drive the zed at present
3) Autos are a preference as it makes no sense to have a manual for the roads / journeys I will be doing
4) I'd like something as unique and good looking as the zed like the new Seat Leon Cupra Auto but cant afford to be spending that on a new car right now

wow i thorght i was confused on the buying selling front, if it helps you at all i came very close to selling my zed, i had the old economy thing going on, if i buy a 1.1 fiesta ill save so and so, but then reality kicked in and i realized why drive a total excuse for a POS thats right a POS, an excuse for a car, this type of car ive had before, i had a 1.2 grande punto on an 06 plate, for the average person this little car would be suberb, for me as someone who does not see driving as a chior but a pleasure this was a major problem.

the lack of power was bordering on dangerous, it was a total joke.

i know i could be 6 grand richer if i sold my zed, and i could do with th money, but everytime i get behind the wheel and drop the hood with tunes on, i just cant lose this car, its better than prozac lol
