To sell already ?!

Can’t afford a gt4 unfortunately.... from looking I’ll either get a very well specced 981 s or a gts with around 30k on for 50ish .... nice yellow one from Porsche at 52k pdk though ..... which I love :o

Sorry, I am a manual only with my sports cars which explains the ones I have. With PDK, you defo have more chance of finding what you are looking for. I love my 981 with sports exhaust. Corners like nothing I have ever driven.

Yes I’ve loved the 981 shape since it came out .... in my opinion the best all round sports car I can actually afford . I had a e92 m3 comp pack with dct and really fell in love with it . Usually I’m a Manuel fan , hence Z4mc and S2k

I might well end up keeping the S2k and getting a 35-40k 981 s

keep the z4m and MOD!! wonderful platform!

I’ve spent so so much on mods to cars over the years ... I think I’m actually addicted to spending on cars ! My theory is that I’ll buy something very good out the box , with warranty to try and combat the spending

Mines heading for the fore sale ads too!

Caymen gt4 ..... my real world dream car

Go for it mate.

I saw a few of these at the Nurburgring earlier this year. Proper cars.

As said previously in this thread .... I’m not going for the gt4 , as much as I’d like to ! Quite simply I can’t afford it .... well I could but I’d not have a penny to my name

I’ll sell both my cars and see what I can comfortably afford ... but more than likely a 981 gts , just love the interiors on them 8)

I’m not one for loans / pcp/ finance .... so I’ll have to settle for what I can afford

Neither am I, hence why I drive a 16 year old M3 instead of a Tony Lewis JB4 tuned M140i.

The 981 GTS is still a cracker but that does make a difference. 👀

(You probably already know this and this is just my opinion) but from a financial point of view you won’t really lose money on your Z4MC and S2K but can still enjoy 2 beautiful cars for years to come.

With the GTS you’ll slip down the depcreciation curve and when the new model is released, it’ll just be another Porsche on the roads.

(Also for that kind of money, why not go for an older 911...)

You would have to go for a 993 or 964 911 if you want depreciation free motoring. 996 and 997 models are flawed engine wise, which makes them cheap. A Gen II 997 is a safe buy but they are now £5k more than when I was looking 2 years ago.

You won't lose money on a manual 981 Cayman. The 781 means that anyone who wants an NA, will have to pay for the privelege. At least I hope so or my plan for free Porsche ownership is fubarred.

Not easy picking depreciation free motoring with legislation changes and road tax charges constantly up in the air.

I think a gts and 25k in the bank is a fair compromise! Personally, and I mean no offence to anyone who has, but I wouldn't sell my MC for a Cayman S (as nice as they are) but I would definitely consider the right colour gts with the gts interior trim (I know, I'm a tart!)

I think they strike a great balance for road use and are desirable in their own right despite not being a Porsche GT model. Buy a nice one at 55k, mentally write off 10-15k and just enjoy it. If you end up selling for more then great, if not, then as long as you can afford it, who cares?

I’m not looking for a investment/ depreciation proof car. I’m wanting something that’s good out of the box , in warranty to try and stop me spending money on it

If I loose 3-5k a year on it I’m ok with that

I am the other way around. I see the GTS as not worth the extra £12 - 15K over a Cayman S with a reasonable spec list. PSE and 20" wheels and you can't tell a lot different. PASM is the only essential option mine doesn't have, oh and folding mirrors. Who the hell orders a car or makes a car without folding mirrors....!!

Now, a GT4 is well worth £65K, plus the inflated mark ups of the people that Porsche preferred to sell to, rather than decent members of the public. At £75K, I think it still a special car for the money if you consider its competition.

I can definitely see that side of things too :) 90% of the time there’s be no discernible difference.

It’s just that whenever I’ve played on the configurator, with the options I’d want, it always seemed to make more sense to choose the gts.

Totally agree on the mirrors, it’s something that really should be standard on a car like this, but then that’s Porsche for you!

I couldn’t put all my eggs into one expensive basket. I’d have to have a second car just for the track.

I’ll happily risk/insure a £10k-£20k Z4M on track (costs me £200 for 3 Ring days), but like be so much more careful with a £50k-£75k motor - even the insurance would be 2x3 times - so there’s now way I’d be enjoying myself as much.

You see some at the Ring where it’s obviously they’re happy to have fun, but you’ll also see the same car being driven by someone who wants to go fast on the straights but brake very early for corners and hold everyone else up, just to blast away on the straights again...obviously too risk-averse with their ‘expensive’ car to brake a bit later or carry a bit of speed through a corner.

I had as much fun in a 170,000 mile, £500, 115bhp Alfa JTD as I did in the Z4 or the M5...just a different type of carefree fun...and a LOT more kerbs taken...and only one diesel top-up per day :P

Well it’s sold and gone .....

I’ll be keeping an eye on what the sports car market does over the next 6 months or so and my thoughts are it’s in for a big drop , so I’ll try to take advantage of that if it does .

Been looking at the cayman gt4 market ..... there are now around 30 for sale on autotrader and now around 70k , where as 6-12 months ago there were very few for sale and all 90-100k . Seems to be the case with every brand of sports cars !

Hard decisions, but follow your own dream.

There will always be a next hot Porker - the coming 718 GT4 with a 6 may depress the prices on the first generation model But I doubt there will ever be another Z4MC again in naturally aspirated form - they are special.

Yes the z4mc is special... I just didn’t bond with it . It’s a mixed up car in my eyes . It’s not a sports car , as it’s just to heavy , engine way out over the front suspension, and general suspension setup is not good . But also not a GT car ... way to hard a ride , loud in the cabin ect . The one thing it has , for me anyway was it’s looks . They are utterly stunning to look at !

Yes I’m hoping the new gt4 with help bring the other 981 cayman variants down a little
