To mod or not to mod?? Conundrum

BMWZ4MC speaks the truth....

While mine isn’t an M, when I got it my girlfriend said “so there’ll be no need to modify this car then....”

18 months and loads of cash later, a lot of things have been modified or retrofitted

And I’ve still got a load of original spare parts I’d kept from my previous car that I can’t even give away as well as an ever growing stock of e85 parts

I guess I’m trying to say... Don’t be this guy...

And don’t be this guy either....

I went to see a hardtop the owner of this monstrosity had for sale.... needless to say, I didn’t buy it

Have you thought about buying another Tuscan and having an LS3 Engine put into it (Topcats Racing). No more Speed 6 worries!

Having bought a great Z4MR with only 20k miles on it I am really torn between keeping is stock and not running up the miles or doing some mods, it is almost a hypothetical question as I doubt I would want to sell it but will the mods kill the value. I was thinking CSL wheels, good exhaust, carbon intake ( maybe the full evolve air box ).
All my other cars have been toys but this feels to me like a keeper, like the last of a certain era of car.

Keep swinging between the two options :driving: but loving it.....

Mod the car but keep the original parts. Then when it comes to sell the car, remove the mods and present the car in its OE condition.

That way you will get full enjoyment whilst also preserving value in the car.

Enjoy

Temped to ask why mod. Is 0 to illegal in 6-7 seconds not enough for road use. The mods may be reversible wear and tear on the engine, drive train etc is not simply reversed. Clap it out, reverse mods and sell as a stock car. Hmmm.

Not all mods are about performance.

E.g. changing to CSL wheels will have no detrimental impact on the engine or drivetrain...

That's kind of an ignorant point of view. As R60BBA says, not all mods will contribute to increased wear, but so what if some do? Many people who mod their cars do it for the simple reason that they enjoy doing car mods. Many people don't and prefer to leave their car stock - and that's fair enough - but for either side to suggest the other is wrong is just dumb.
