To Find My Sold Car & Buy it back.

Hi, my names Callum and I am currently 24.
Last year 7th April 2024 I Stupidly Sold my Z4 to WE BUY ANY CAR.
I needed a car to get me to work and back for the year and I was worried the car wouldn’t survive the long journeys back and forth all year so I found a Low mileage SAAB to replace it. Little did I know how attached I felt towards my Z4 and I massively regret selling it. I felt like a heart brake and I ended up stalking
my car like an Ex partner, I believe WE BUY ANY CAR sold it to a garage where it was then put on auto trader and within a week it was SOLD to a lucky person.
I want to track it down and see if the new owner would be willing to discuss selling the vehicle if it’s not been wrecked. Now I didn’t know how to go about this because I don’t know where the car could be so I’ve come here to ask for help if anyone spots the number plate. LC04YTA / Black / 3.0L / 2004 / E85 / it Had Black Powder coated Rims /
Let’s Find my car!
Any help would be greatly appreciated

I hope you manage to track it down Callum.

I know all about seller's regret. After I had taken a deposit on my first Coupe I had exactly the same feeling, so I went to look at another Coupe and put a deposit on it. I was only Zedless for 2 days. :D

I'm not saying this applies in this case, but ...

Before anyone replies to Callum if they see this car, this is also how stalkers and other less-than-genuine individuals try to find people.
We all like to be helpful where possible, so someone appeals to that generosity of spirit, and they've got extra eyes looking for their ex that managed to escape from domestic violence.

Having seen DV perpetrators do exactly this when I was in the Police, I'm not exaggerating, this isn't some remote near-impossibility. It happens

As said, I'm not saying that's what's happening here. But please be very careful before even giving out a locality where a searched-for car has been seen

What a terrible world we live in. There is danger round every corner, especially for the naive like me. It would never have crossed my mind to see the potential risk you refer to.🙁

I'm one for taking people at face value, and get along with anyone, but you just never know these days

From my own experience Callum: Don't revisit the past trying to get a particular car. It will only disappoint. If you want another Z4, look for another example; plenty of others can be found.

It's funny but when l read the adverts and the images of a rather tired looking Z with over 100k on the clock it seemed very unusual request, maybe it's a genuine case of love at first drive but life taught me to question everything and in this instance my gut feeling is telling me that this is a very unusual request and search. I agree with your comments.

Jesus! Excuse me lol.

I’d like to say no I’m not a Creepy guy hunting down an ex or anyone for that matter. It didn’t cross my mind that it would seem that way as I don’t think like that.

But thank you for that message and don’t stop doing your thing as it may help people who are really in that type of situation.

Maybe I should have added some photos of my driving the car to prove it was mine to avoid this scenario as I don’t want to be listed as a Creep.

I’m just an average guy who works on the tools 10 hours a day and enjoys vehicles and hobby’s around it in my free time.

It was just a genuine missing of a vehicle

Also it’s a very valid point to not go back to the same car again for many reason I presume, as we don’t know how it was treated after selling it. So on.

The cars mileage didn’t bother me I personally don’t think 100,000 miles or near About is particularly high for that engine as I believe it will go a lot higher without issues as long as it’s well serviced.

Finally I’d like to say I’ve given up my search for the car and would like to find another one in the future. Maybe in blue as I think they stand out very nicely in blue and black. But this unfortunately. Won’t be anytime soon as I’m trying my best to save up and get a mortgage first.
It’s not easy out there for first time buyers.

Thank you for all the support. Good to know my messages are acknowledged and that there are people out there trying to help in many ways.

Till next time

I wouldn’t think so given the paranoid s**t he’s just had thrown at him…!!

What an absolute shitshow, is this place renowned for weirdo’s stalking it…? No. …

There was one, but they haven’t posted for more than five years and they stopped their stalking antics a few years before that.

Sorry to hear you have given up your search for the time being. At 24 you have plenty of time on your side! Life is not easy for someone looking to buy their first home unless they have a partner to help them take on the mortgage. The property market in the UK is a rip-off. If I had my time again I think I would have moved to Australia, better opportunities for jobs! Good luck Callum.

And a much worse housing crisis! The median price of a house in Sydney is over $1.65 million dollars (£795k) (data from Domain.com.au which is the equivalent of Right Move etc in the UK). In the cheapest suburbs of Sydney, the median is c. $800k and in the most expensive c $9.8 million.

Most Australians live in the cities, so Sydney house prices are not directly comparable with London. Rather, the data should be compared with the most densely populated regions of the UK. The median house price in the SE of England is £385k (c $800k AUD). In Greater London, the median is £515k (c. $1 million AUD).

The average wage in the UK is just under £37.5k pa (c 78k AUD) and in Australia it is $100,000 (c £48k). That means the average house in the SE of England costs around 10 times the average wage, whilst the average Sydney house costs around 16 times the average wage.

The cost of living here is higher too, especially if you live in a cheaper peripheral suburb of Sydney (50-60km from the centre) and have to commute daily using woeful but expensive public transport or very expensive toll roads.

Not that any of that helps the OP find his car or afford a mortgage, but it might make you feel like you made the right decision to stay in the UK Mr Harper!
