To deginger or not to deginger?

I am now the proud owner of a facelift M bumper, some facelift rear lights and facelift front lights ready for a cut and shut on my ginger xenons. Thing is, I'm not sure about doing it.

I like the pre facelift rear light look and wonder if I can rework he M bumoer to fit these rather than using facelift lights, and I have no idea of/confidence in doing a cut and shut myself, so am unsure about the fronts.

What are people's experiences with cutting front lights - as bad as I think it might be? And what about M bumpers - has anyone kept pre facelift lights with an M bumper and have photos to share?

Any thoughts would be greatly welcomed.

Oh, and whilst I'm at it, anyone have experience of cutting parking sensor holes in a bumper they'd like to share?

Yeah, I saw that and it looks good, but cutting 2 bumpers to make one is not for the faint hearted and I wondered if it was easier building up the 'missing bits' with resin on the M bumoer over this full on effort.

Maybe but unlikely to give as good a finish or I'm sure Richard's bodyshop would have done it that way.
 
I did this a week or so ago and it brings the car up to date IMO, I am now ginger free! Most of the headlight job is easy with a dremel. The clear lense has a male lip that sits and is glued into a female channel on the rear of the light. However, when you cut the lense off the rears that you are going to re-use it leaves the "male" ridge from the clear lense inside the "female" channel on the rears. The lense part that you need to remove Is super strong and the rear black casing is quite brittle so needs extreme care. The only way I could get the male lip out was to carefully dremel inside the channel with a thin cutting disk, which cut away at the clear male lip, leaving the black channel either side in tact. Not sure if this makes sense or not, it will if you do it! Now it's done I could do it again, now I've done it once and it really is worth it.

I agree with the above. I have a Toledo blue with ginger bits and love the way it looks.

Maybe on a red or silver car I would consider de-gingering but generally I like the ginger look.
 
I too am OK with the ginger on a Toledo Blue, I think the appearance on mine has improved by changing from black headlights to chrome.
 
I dont mind my ginger front lights on my black too.

Not a fan of the side indicators though so they had to be changed :)

I would like some de gingered pre facelift rear lights too one day :)

facelift rear lights are so much better and make the car look younger, the rears conversion is easly but you will need to code the care to prevent the "T" effect and bulb out warning light. As for the fronts, i swapped over the xenons to facelift but you need to replace the LCM unit or if you have intravee then thats sorts out the flash to pass problem. Alternative if your cutting them open get some halo rings in, talk to Ranski on here about thats.
 
I'm not down with the amber, looks dates whatever the colour car

Facelift all the way, with halos if you want to stand out from the crowd

You wait, ginger will come back into fashion... like white cars, beards, platform soles and flares.... :lol:
